Lucky me, have to wait for survivor finale to be put on paramount +. Not shown where I am we just get severe weather coverage.

Season 4 is good, but that was first Covid season so celeb caliber dropped and it never returned really. It’s a decent show with some weed and a drink haha.

Hope people enjoy their respective finales last night!

To give you a sense of how long they stretched out The Challenge, Big Brother wasn’t even in the jury phase yet when the season started and then an entire season of Survivor has started and finished as well.

I enjoyed the final of Challenge 37 though. Just in case anyone who hasn’t wants to watch the finale I’ll put the next part in spoiler tags…

Given the result of this season, I REALLY want Bananas to come back next season and I’d think it’d be fun to see them pick teams for the first phase of the game, with Bananas and CT as captains.

Survivor South Africa Season 8, along with Survivor New Zealand Season 2, are now on paramount +! Highly recommend both of them. I am also hoping this helps potentially bring Big Brother Canada this spring also.

Survivor Australia really highlights how much Jeff Probst “encroaches” on the game now. And definitely feels like the Aussie version is far more focused on casting people instead of characters.

See I disagree. US Survivor casts people, AU Casts characters. Look at George from Season 6 for an example. AU is far more over dramatic where US takes itself seriously, whether you like that or not.

Jeff does a great, great job casting but his influence on the game definitely is felt.

I don’t think CBS/Viacom have anything to do with BB Canada (which probably explains why it’s so good), but I guess it’s a possibility if they do international distribution for the show. It’s a hard show to watch and honestly I wish it was televised in the US as it would probably be popular. The show gets pretty low ratings in Canada, so I’m surprised they’ve kept going with it.

This last season is a touch better than the recent ones, but then you literally have Evvie who is, to a T, a Cochran, and (for a while) one of the main questions in their audition packet was “which former Survivor player do you think you would play like.” For a long while, the vast majority of the US casts were recruits from casting directors looking for specific types to fit desired “characters.”

Season 4 of AU has a three/four folks that feel like they’re intentionally playing a “character,” and Luke is the only one who’s personality isn’t portrayed like a joke. AU may get worse, but right now, everything feels far more genuine.

And see I see Evvie as a non binary queer rep, plus was a strategy powerhouse. I think you’re typecasting people a bit too much cause I don’t think they thought of Cochran at all really nor do I feel they’re overly similar than the glasses, which again, not everyone who wears glasses is Cochran.

Ya I’ve heard about that, so I hope they distribute to either make money from US streaming if they’re done after season 10, or launch it with season 10 in hopes it generates enough revenue to carry on.

She also wrote a thesis on Survivor, which was Cochran’s entire thing.

I mean that’s just very small thinking in my eyes, while I hear you, and they also aren’t awkward or lack self confidence at all, which is entirely Cochran’s bit on top of being a survivor geek, while Evvie is super confidence and social and proud, has a partner, just got a doctorate, was the biggest threat on their first season, I just see a difference.

Yes they both went to Harvard and and have glasses and are super fans, I see so many differences beyond that.

Evvie wasn’t even the biggest threat in her alliance, let alone the game… lol

The biggest threat since day 1 was always Ricard, followed by Erika, and (frustratingly) Shan. He was the only one who didn’t seem to have a need to be in the driver seat, but was totally content reaching over to guide the wheel from shotgun. He actually played a remarkably subtle game that probably counts as one of the best (first-time) performances ever.

I’ll give you that Evvie was far more assured than Cochran (iteration 1) was. She’s more akin to the second appearance. But if was a producer who wanted “another Cochran,” that’s exactly who I would cast.

Evvie was a major social threat, Idk how you don’t see that. Best player no, big threat yes. That’s why they were voted out early with Naseer where Cochran was just dragged until his alliance left. Evvie was most certainly in the middle with Yase.

I am sure this has been said before but, if you were ever a fan of survivor do yourself a favor and get paramount + and start watching Austrian survivor. I just finished my 1st season of it (season 4) and man I loved it. Didn't realize how much I missed the opening theme song and how much it helps keep early vote out characters fresh in your mind.
So many things I enjoyed. The challenges were different, not everyone was go through this obstacle course them solve a puzzle. They had some good head banger challenges too. The final 3 challenge is what I believe the final challenge should always be, basically a who wants it more challenge that goes for hours. The kind of final challenge that it was for the 1st several seasons of survivor. It was fun seeing some of the old school game play of stick with original tribe through tribe swaps and merge. Finally the hidden immunity idol twist was fun and not game breaking.
There is one issue with the season and that is on paramount + end. The final episode starts with 3 people but the thumbnail for it shows the final 2 sitting at final tribal. Seriously if you ever enjoyed survivor go pick up paramount + and watch a season, you won't be disappointed.

I’m finishing up season 5 right now. Between these two seasons and the one South African season that’s, there’s 3-5 of my favorite all-time players.

Plus, Jonathan (the Australia host) is so good about subtly reacting to the players instead of reacting in a way that feels like he’s trying to draw attention to himself.

Everyone here, a PSA.

Season 6 of Survivor South Africa drops I believe January 19. Cancel your plans and watch that. It’s a top 5 survivor season of all time for me amongst all and any versions.

Drag Race is back! Solid first episode with some good performances. Willow's talent was very dark and deff was a parody of society which was fun. Sad to see Orion go so early. On to next week and the second half of the split premier!

I actually think the diversity of different personalities there could lead to a very entertaining show and a season with a lot of great strategy/backstabbing, just like CBB 2.
