They already sacrifice show quality to keep a constantly moving line running through the houses.

It's an issue of everyone seems to want to come at the same time. So the real solution would be to shut the park down (and allow money to walk away, the same money that pays for them to design, build and staff these houses) or price HHN peak nights in a way that they can reduce number of people but not loose money (Charge twice as much and hope half the people still show up).

The park is only so big, there are only so many options. I go on peak nights, but I don't go into any of the houses (unless I can work my way into the express line). I don't go into them because the lines are insane, and by that point I've already been through them all on the first and second weekends.

Actually let me put it a different way. How do you feel about Disney parks on 4th of July, spring break and the week between Christmas and New Years?

Every year during those periods they have closures. The parks are slammed, but year after year it goes the same way. It's because that's when people choose to come. It's a well known fact. In fact at HHN you can tell that simply by looking at the ticket pricing. They try to use the pricing to drive you to the slower days.

I see what you're saying. There are those peak times when parks are unbearable and then there are times when it's not.

I guess I feel that because it's a separately ticketed event guests should be able to see the entire event. The easiest solution? Come at a non-peak time.

Just a reminder that some seem to be forgetting... the (relatively) insane crowds last year without enough sufficient places to put them (down a house and a people-eating attraction) was the primary reason we saw the addition of more houses over the years.

If any of the "insider" speculation is to be believed, we're getting 8 houses again. As it should be. And if they do try to pull a fast one and only have seven houses (of which one is a "repeat" property), I won't be attending. I refuse to support HHN going the route of WDW by charging far more for less.

In order to make the most money, Universal is going to push its limits just accept that.

Also, last year legitimately saw higher numbers. It wasn't just in our heads. It didn't only feel more crowded because of construction or one less house it was actually busier.

It was a good year, but it wasn't the crazy insane year it's made out to be. And higher numbers, also more nights then ever before.

Let's see I have been going 15 years,,,And last year the first thursday of the run the day i have gone for the last 7 years was the Busiest I have ever seen it. We had express passes and the lines were over 120 minutes by 730. So Yes last year was the Busiest I have ever seen. Also the huge numbers come from a lot of FFP's being sold period. Then they add a game so you have to go through the houses and clog up the line more. HHN is about numbers now period. Also non peak nights sorry there is no such thing, Every Sunday is a non peak ask anyone who goes on that night how non peak it is. When they charge 90 dollars for an express on a NON Peak Night that is a crock...Defend all you want it is true, They will never be honest about non peak I meet people in Ohio last week who said they went on a Non Peak night expecting to get around the park and see the haunts, Again a first Thursday of the run and saw 5 haunts and paid full price. Of course fan boys think that it is fine to wait in line hours while they go 15 nights and play horror unearthed, When they are just pawns in a game to show big numbers.

Been looking forward to attending my first HHN this coming Sept/Oct ,22nd through 5th, but these stories of Qs are a little off putting. As a noob to HHN what would all you veterans suggest is my best strategy to see and do as much as possible? I will have the Premier AP which gets a HHN ticket valid Sun-Thur will I need more than 1 visit? and what are my ticket options with an AP if I do.

Are the parks likely to busy during the day and non HHN?

Sorry for all the Qs I feel like such a noob LOL. I have been over many times in the past but usually in August (to coincide with my daughters schooling) I have stayed on-site on those past visits to utilize the express pass, would this be advisable for this time of year or will I get by with single riders?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Since you're there during the first 3 weeks, buy a AP discounted Rush of Fear pass. Gets you into every night for the first 3 weeks and is only about 55 dollars. You definitely need more than one night. I've never bought Express, but it might be a good idea, especially after last year.

Not particularly. Crowds don't show up until the event.

Best advice I can give is to somehow get in the park early. We crossed over from IoA and were able to enter before the main gate. We knocked out a bunch of houses real quick.

This right here!

Mark, they key is to make sure you are inside Universal before they close for the night. If you have an AP and a HHN you are able to stay in the park in the NY area next to Finnegans while they set up. There also may be a holding area by the Kidzone section also but not 100% about that. I prefer the NY area anyways since you can knock out the SS houses first. We did this last year and had it was the only way we were able to see all the houses. Only downside is that you go thru the first few while its still light out, which is no big deal for the SS house but sucked for us going thru the Walking Dead house last year since it was still light out.

Another idea would be to do the locations in reverse, if you can't get in early. Meaning, go all the way to the back of the park and do the parade building and tent houses first, then work your way over to the others. If you hit the first Bill and Ted showing, you can get into the Disaster queue house afterwards, when it's dark/getting dark, saving the soundstages for last. I've always done this in the past, and it works for me.

This is my path year after year and I've actually written an article about this path as well.

I don't care what anyone says, waits have been at the events since it's inception. My first year, 2006, I waited 2 hours for Psycho and only saw 3 houses that night. This was the opening Saturday of the event, too. If you're here looking at information than you've already taken the biggest step in improving your experience.

I've been going to the first three weekends for the last 7 years, last year was the first time that I was not able to do everything in one night. It was majorly more crowded in September than the previous years.

Last HHN we were leaving the park at closing time. When we walked by the walking dead house entrance a team member stopped us and asked if we wanted to go in! We got to enjoy the whole house by ourselves (3 people)! It was amazing.
