Bored this afternoon, halfway through the event, so I figured it would be fun to check Net Promoter Scores for HHN31. Not actual GSATs, but a decent indicator at least of what super-fans are feeling. Used every review with full rankings, top 1 - 3 plus one, bottom 4 minus one.

-18 Spirits of the Coven -- flop of the event, no question
-17 Hellblock Horror
-14 Blumhouse
-2 Halloween -- probably the least total votes, so mostly middle of the road, but those who felt strongly lean toward ranking it lower
-1 Bugs
0 Chupacabra
+1 Weeknd -- these three seem polarizing, many votes both ways
+6 Monsters Collide
+8 Descendants of Destruction -- I think can fairly be called a sleeper hit
+18 Dead Man's Pier -- no shock, one detractor and I think one middle vote, rest put in top 3

I have to say I’ve been to the event one total time this year and unlike previous years feel no particular urge to go back. Just feel pretty meh about this year all in all. I actually want to compare it a bit to 22 where there was two all-timers imo (Gothic & Dead End) and the rest of the event was either below average or just mid.

I've tried to Not be too negative about stuff but yes, it kind of feels way off. Outside of the zones, there are some little details that feel off. Last year even with the plastic covers it felt better.
I don't know. But your post made me think about it.

Tonight the houses feel quite a bit more staffed compared to last night. And the streets are absolutely full. I would have to imagine this is pretty close to a normally staffed night, but I don’t have any other nights this year to compare it to.

Also it appears this is another night without Goulish. Hopefully it will be back for my second trip at the end of October.

The scare zones are amazing this year top to bottom IMO. And yes the house lineup isn’t as strong as the past few years, but it’s still solid. Plus this is the best Blumhouse by a large, large margin.

See, I actually disagree about Blumhouse. I did it a few times the night I went. I do like how it feels like two separate houses so that was a cool thing to try out, but I still think the HHN 27 Blumhouse was the best.

I didn’t care for either previous one and I think this one is the surprise of the event.

We did coven 4 times, every run was really solid for us. We really liked this house and the attention to the historical era and the story! Halloween (5 times) was our #1, and hellblock was not one of the best but totally fun the 3 times we did it. I think 1 run kind of sucked, but the rest were fine. But we do agree that Blumhouse was not good.

Just goes to show that people like different stuff!

Posted wait times didn't really reflect it, but Sunday (10/2) felt like a very manageable crowd. Streets were passable (SF had room for scare actors to work!), Express had minimal waits to a point TMs were cutting switchbacks, even food booth waits were comparable to a moderate day at Food & Wine. Not sure if hurricane fatigue, the end of RoF, or something else, but made for a pleasant evening with the reduced humidity.

Of course next weekend is Hell Week so sorry if you missed it ...

Had a great time and I always fly down twice but after this year, I think one trip is enough. I still love the event it just didn’t feel as memorable/special this year. I’m not sure, it could be me. Maybe the event has hit its peak the past 5 years. Could be the lack of another major IP or I’m just getting older.

I think my theory that HHN crowds will see a noticeable dip any time the Tampa Bay Bucs have a prime time game has some weight. Happened to me last year and again last night. Could be something to watch for if you aren’t a Bucs fan. Might be a good night to go to HHN

10/11 and 10/24 added to HHN.

Per HHN’s Facebook page:
“We have added two new event dates: Tuesday, October 11 and Monday, October 24. The new dates are also valid for Frequent Fear Passholders. Tickets for the new dates will go on sale tomorrow, October 4.

Premier Passholders can take advantage of their Halloween Horror Nights free admission benefit to experience the event on one of these additional dates, or Wednesday, October 5. https://bit.ly/3ydaTWe”

Not sure the hotel line is any faster than the general public line tonight. Just FYI.

That was the case when we went as well.

They are not checking in detail at the main sidewalk that the card you flash has valid current dates on it. Just a quick flash and you're on your way. As a test, I specifically covered the whole bottom part of my room key and barely showed the top and was not stopped (The room key was legit and I was prepared to stop for a date inspection but it didn't happen). So that line backs up.

Also, the temp setup they have to check tickets was slow. There were like 5 TMs under that tent, two portable ticket machines, only one actively scanning.
