Yep, that one was so fast that it wasn't even completely done on opening weekend. Still one of the only good houses that year.

If this just affects Hollywood, I'm not sure what they will do. If it involves Orlando, resurrecting HIVE doesn't sound so bad given the Evil Dead Rise environs...

Now, let’s compare this AMC thing to a leak that actually confirmed something. Publix’s released a promotional sign early that stated Halloween was coming to the event. Publix clearly stated Halloween was playing a major role in the event. Meanwhile, AMC did not state The Black Phone is coming to any event.

Pretty much. It's not trying to be a debbie downer or anything, but the OP of the twitter post claims, "The Black Phone confirmed for Halloween Horror Nights 31!". But there is zero confirmation of The Black Phone at Halloween Horror Nights 31 in that sweepstakes announcement. There's no mention of a Black Phone house, zone or even "experience". And there's zero mention of Halloween Horror Nights itself. Just a mention of a "mystery trip to Orlando, Florida to visit a horror-themed amusement park.". The devils in the details, and you can get bit in the tuckus if assume something that is not explicitly stated.

At the same time, we're not saying it not happening. You can still put 2+2 together here and certain rumors/spec is all the stronger. Remember, they're probably being very careful not to explicitly say everything for the simple fact...it hasn't been officially announced yet!

If I remember correctly, it was like around late-July/early-August the news broke about the loss of Scream, so yeah it was an even tighter turnaround from one house to the next compared to say Tooth Fairy to Us.

Considering Evil Dead Rises is said to take place in a big apartment/high-rise building, I would happily take "The Raid: HIVE" as a replacement.

Carnival Graveyard was one of those houses that me and my husband thought was amazing and one of our all time favorites, and yet disappointed everyone else. Different strokes, eh?

So I have a potentially dumb question. I know we talked about scarezones awhile back in this thread but one thing is confusing me. All the spec maps show entirely original zones. Yet if I remember correctly it’s been speculated that there is actually one IP zone.

So I guess my question is, is there going to be entirely original scarezones? Or is there potentially an IP zone? And more specifically if there is an IP, Will it be an IP that follows a similar Halloween theme as the rest of the zones? Or will it be a “one of these things is not like the others” situation?

Call me crazy, but I think the “Treaks and Foons” zone might potentially be a return of “Killer Klowns from Outer Space.” This make the most sense considering on how Clowns are often associated with traditional Halloween, it fills in the one I.P zone gap, and is a guarantee hit with fans and locals. It also makes sense from a contract standpoint, considering how Hollywood is also rumored to get the ”Killer Klowns” house returning this year.

Classic Monsters was a quirk, as they were designing/building the house from scratch. US and Hive took advantage of houses that were already in-process.

They locations are not changing this year.

The 2012 house wasn't exactly "designed from scratch", it was a shelved concept that was easy to do with sets they already had from previous years.

Hell the first room was a "film vault" that recycled stuff from All Nite Die-in, but also Silver Screams. Everything after that was black painted sets with blacklight reactive outlines like 2008's Dead Exposure. While it wasn't fully complete until week 3 of HHN it was still a major achievement considering they lost SS44 during construction (resulting in Chupucabra getting shelved)

The 2012 House of Horrors house although it was last minute, it was sorta impressive how the little things they did for some of the monsters and giving them their respective scenes, to me that was sorta big at the time since I've been going to the event since 2006 and it was kinda cool that the Monsters were sorta getting love during a meh year.

They had a treatment. They had to actually create the layout and elevations for it for the Parade building from scratch.

They used as much short hand as possible, so they reused designs to save time.

Lovely. Now people will expect an announcement ever Thursday in addition to Tue and Wed...so each week we'll get 3 days of "are we getting an announcement tomorrow?" followed by disappointment, if not anger, when the announcement doesn't arrive.

This year honestly seems like they're possibly having a bit of messy build up of the event behind the scenes for quite sometime, with ED out, that could be continuation of the problems also with merch as well, we don't have much left on our end. Weeknd being the grand finale and the originals, zones and shows dumped in August, we should be fine.

Hollywood can be given their moment now lol, I could see their final ip being Klowns and the originals being announced at Midsummer alongside the terror tram.

I think fans can calm down now and just wait patiently, there is not much were missing out on from here on out.

Universal House of Horrors (?) at 22 and Hive replacing The Conjuring a few years later were last-minute replacements -- the former wasn't even completed opening weekend, had to add set decoration during the first week. Both ended up in my top 3 that year, I think both may have even been my #2.

Unless it's a "book report" house for a movie the creators love, IP can be limiting. (Look how boring TWD houses became.) Having a basic concept (b&w monsters, 70s suburban vampires) and the pressure of limited time actually seems to help these last-minute houses. All killer because there's no time for filler.
