People are shooting down ideas. But I don't think anyone knows what the replacement house is yet. Obviously, an original makes the most sense. But that doesn't mean it is a sure thing. Until people actually start hearing what it is, anything is on the table.

That’s assuming Universal wants to do Nope.

And, yes, it still takes time to negotiate for IP houses. Universal parks even has to get approval from Universal Pictures on using the Classic Monsters.

I didn’t understand how much time it still took until I had a meeting with someone. Illumination for instance is really strict with The Minions being used in advertisements and representing them appropriately. Just because it’s Blumhouse doesn’t mean it’s turn key, which I think people don’t understand.

I’m very hopeful for a strong original, and I think we’ll get that.

There will always be IP’s the event’s creative team will be order to do. As much the Walking Dead overstayed it’s welcome with a five-year oversaturation, It drew a lot of crowds and won new fans.

Honestly Jordan peele has only made one decent movie and even that wouldn't lend itself to a good house.

I'm still not convinced on Nope being a good film, it seems very iffy to say the least and a house for it would seem to be a headache to possibly to make, Us back in 2019 was decent even for last minute but I don't see much of his work coming to the event in the future.

Its not too surprising that we lost Eillish, it felt too good to be true for her sticking around at the event, with Weeknd it seems they're trying their best to make this house in the same vein if not different from how they approached the idea for Eillish, the imagery should be interesting with his house especially from his videos, trying to go for more of a darker image that he continues to compromise.

I mean he does try his best, I'm sure he's not trying to make movies to see haunted houses being based on them but I'm sure they find their audiences, horror is subjective to people which I totally understand. As for Weeknd I mean it might be honestly a little of both, probably wanting to go in the directions they wanted to do with Eillish possibly and maybe more, would it lead to a return highly unlikely.

Couldn't disagree more. Peele's films are poignant, fun, sharp and, above all, creative as hell, one of the reasons why I love the genre in the first place. The line between horror and comedy is razor thin but it takes a skilled hand to balance both so it's no surprise to me that someone who made their name in comedy kicks ass in making horror films.

I completely agree. Peele's take on horror is orignal, creative and thought provoking. Feels like he is shaking up what was, for a while, a very stagnant genre. Doesn't mean they have to translate to houses, but the films themselves are excellent.

Spec maps are definitely becoming a little annoying now, its like a pissing contest to see who's has the right spec map. I hate to pull the back in my day we don't need a spec map to enjoy the event or plan our week because of one we just went to the event and enjoyed it. Spec maps sorta kill that but I understand how some people like it, to each their own I guess.

TBH I liked it when there was just one spec map. And I liked it better when I thought they had sources, too, not just taking a sampling of every outlet. For me then, it seems like my idea of what is coming from being on discord, twitter and here- I have the same information they do.

I think its been said on here before but some of the stuff was sorta ousted already because one persons "spec map" and that spec map was mixed with real info with false ones after that sorta came out, pretty much the jig was up, I think people were confused by it but it lined up with how the announcements came out but still doesn't mean that spec maps haven't become more problematic in recent years, not giving flack to HNN but it would be nice to have a break from it and let the event have a little more mystery as it did, it won't stop speculation.

I for one don't mind all the spec maps.

Horror Night Nightmares has a track record showing that they do a great job. So I pay attention to theirs and put some weight to it. If you search for HHN31 Spec Map on google, you get some ridiculous ones like someone had the 4 sound stages as being Strangers Things seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4. Someone else has 12 Stephen King houses. Hey, to each their own.

This new entity seems to have taken all the hard work done by HNN, made up their own titles for what was already reported, and then jumped on the Nope replacement for Evil Dead train and threw together their own map and are acting like they know something. If they turn out to have some titles correct, they'll prove some reliability and knowledge.

But as it stands, as far as I'm concerned, it's like waiting until 10 picks into the NFL draft (as they're releasing their spec map with a few houses already announced) and posting your mock draft having the first 10 picks correct and taking Todd McShay's mock draft and making tiny changes to it and claiming it's yours and you did the research and investigating yourself.

I just think the overall thought of the spec map in the beginning was nice, it was a fresh idea not so fresh but it got annoying because like you said a bit there, everyone started to make their spec map not like a Wishful thinking one they went full in with spec maps and having a pissing contest and of course many started to believe their own hype because they had someone "in the know", that crap isn't cute. Sit and wait like every other fan of the event, don't spread false hope to people like that, speculation is good but I'll say it again.

I'm not too old but old enough lol that back in my day I didn't need a spec to be excited for an HHN event and have determine whether I travel or not, I bide my time and enjoyed myself even enjoyed Howl O Scream's build, spec maps are getting a bit out of control, just give a break, its not needed every year, do it once in a few years. Back to the event, should be a good decent year.
