Wouldn't really consider that a "random" post though. That's very clearly different from their sh*tposting behavior.

I mean... it was though? At the time it made no sense. So I would classify it as random even if the intentions of it weren't.

Edit: I disagree with your comment about it being different from their usual s**tposting

Is there any reason we should still believe the rumor of more than 10 houses for this year? We’re getting closer to March and there’s still no new permits. The original permits that dropped are now going through inspections so it seems those are moving along.

There are people here who have more organized knowledge about this then me, however, I believe if you use the current soundstages listed in the permits one of them usually only serves as a venue to one house instead of two. IF you add an 11th house there is room in that soundstage that only houses one for another. Since it’s been confirmed you don’t need separate permits to work on two houses in one soundstage it makes it still possible.

So you can technically have 6 houses up front, 1 in F&F, 2 in the sprung tents, and 2 in the new tents. So in total that could be 11.

Is that the plan? Tbh probably no, I think we are gonna end up getting 10 and they dial up the count next year.

I had heard a couple days ago that there may be an announcement in late February.

But today isn’t late February, so I dunno what that is.

wrestlers in horror,
Tyler Mane was Michael Myers
They Live and Roddy Piper ( very memorable)
Diamond Dallas Page in devils rejects
triple H in blade Trinity
Kane was the main villain in see no evil
Bill Goldberg in Santa's slay
Chris Jericho Terrifier 2/3
rey mysterio was the body double for Freddy Kruger in Freddy vs Jason ( in the final fight)
David Arquette of SCREAM was also a wrestler for a while :lol:

Its always cool and funny to see wrestlers show up in horror movies, horror seems like an easy entry way for acting. specially as the villains.
(you can even add kind of add Dwayne Johnson in the mummy 2 Scorpion king, as kind of a horror acting job. or Jesse ventura in predator naybe)
WWE also produces horror movies like Leprechaun reboot and see no evil.

Different Rey Mysterio. May have been his uncle who I believe has passed away.

Speaking of which - is there a discussion thread on Unleashed here somewhere? Just curious as to your thoughts on it. When I saw the video they dropped last week, I literally squealed at Scarecrow being a featured property. One of my fave houses of all time - and now it's "permanent". I cannot WAIT to get to Vegas to see this.

TJ told me that when they were putting this all together, it reminded them a lot of the "classic" HHN era, and they are all very excited about it. I think it's going to be amazing.

As for this year's HHN - I also wonder why they would do an 11th house this year and not next year for an anniversary year. Granted, this year SHOULD have been the anniversary (screw COVID for messing this all up). My question is what would drive them to expand the total in a random year? I mean, I'm thrilled about the idea, but it doesn't make sense to me.

That line of thinking also goes with the icon idea. I also feel it was better when we had fully fleshed out characters, and they seemed to come mostly in anniversary years as well. I thought the icons last year were just boring. After the great job they did with Oddfellow, I thought S&S was sort of tacked on. It was such a non-factor for me that when I came across the little merch they had relating to it, I was like - what the hell is this? Ohhhh yeah, the "icons". Honestly, had more fun interacting with the photo op actors behind the bar near the lagoon across from Mel's last year than anything with the icons.

Thread 'Universal Horror Unleashed - Las Vegas, NV'

May 17, 2022
Something interesting to come out of the rumor mill - Screamscape is reporting that Universal is planning an entirely mature HHN set in Vegas

Las Vegas News - (5/17/22) I’ve no idea just how serious this is, but Screamscape is being told that Universal Studios may be in talks with a group in Las Vegas to create a Sin City version of Halloween Horror Nights. I don’t believe this is in connection with an existing attraction like the Circus Circus Adventuredome, but is expected to be more of a stand-alone Haunt experience the likes of which has never been seen before in Las Vegas...

Adding to the icon discussion, they definitely didn’t do any service with that embarrassment of a “scare zone.” I know that area is notorious for being lackluster, which is understandable, but for an “icon zone” specifically, I hope they’ve learned their lesson. If you want an icon to feel like an icon, especially in their own scare zone, at least put up cobwebs or something! Anything! It was awful.

I think the original idea around here was that the 11th (or 12th!) house would replace the capacity of losing Rockit. But I'd go further and say that history shows that they don't care about saving increases for anniversary years.

2002 - 5 houses -> 2003 - 6 houses
2003 - 6 houses -> 2004 - 7 houses
2006 - 7 houses -> 2007 - 8 houses
(I'm ignoring 2012 and 2013 with the last minute Transformers construction eating a house but getting it back in 2013)
2014 - 8 houses -> 2015 - 9 houses (<- Anniversary year)
2017 - 9 houses -> 2018 - 10 houses

So since 2000 (which I arbitrarily chose), we've seen 5 increases in house count and only one has been in an anniversary year. That corresponds with my intuition too: I just don't think "Come to the 35th anniversary of HHN, Now Bigger than Ever!" sells many more if not any more tickets than "Come to HHN 34, Now Bigger than Ever!"

An 11th house has got to be this year. Aside from the obvious crowd issues the past few years, more people are going to be at Universal now in general just from Epic Universe opening. Then with Rockit being closed, and the huge IPs rumored, I have to imagine they’re planning for a significant increase in HHN crowds/better crowd control this year.

I haven't really thought about it, but the closure of HRRR could legitimately factor into this. I've never even gone over there during HHN, but it always seems to draw a decent line during the night.

line is huge even when the park near closing, line was as long as a house line, whenever I was leaving the park I think I remember it was always crowded.
it's gonna leave a huge hole
