My biggest complaint about SS2 was that half the scenes -- including H&C -- weren't really comedic, which was the first version's strength. My instinct is that they play H&C straight.

It’s going to be a action western house, so I don’t think comedic I just think of it as a fun action house.

Hatchet and Chains was played straight in their scene last year, and there's nothing so far indicating that'll change for this year. And the Terrifier series regrettably avoids being fun, so I don't see that being a horror comedy house either.

And honestly, looking at the other houses both confirmed and rumored...

Jason Universe - Straight up slasher.
WWE - The main thing mentioned for this house is psychological.
FNaF - Played serious.
El Artista - Clearly traditional haunted house horror, no funny business.
Dolls - Any story that's been rumored for this one doesn't sound like a horror comedy to me, it's reading more twisted.
Vikings - This one is admittedly a big ??? considering not much has been said about this house save for the rumor it's gonna' be cold.
Graveyard - Don't see them going in a comedy direction for this one.

Really, Fallout is probably going to be the horror comedy house.

The point about Terrifier in particular seems to be a case of "your mileage may vary" - I don't think Terrifier is funny to everyone or perhaps even to most people, but I think Terrifier is certainly playful, and for fans of the franchise and that kind of extreme gore, a house could definitely qualify as a (very dark) comedy house. Given that we have both Terrifier and Jason coming, I would expect the designers will look for ways to differentiate. One is obviously that Jason can be suspense-heavy and Terrifier can focus more on gore; another could easily be tonal, and have the Jason house heavy on dread and the Terrifier house more bonkers.

People think my wife and I are sick, but we both think that Terrifier 2 is absolutely hilarious.

This will 100% be a comedy house…if you’re a twisted individual

From the IGN article, I got the impression that Fallout would be played pretty straight as well. I think this might be like 2022, where there wasn't really any traditional comedy house, with the closest one being Bugs with some of the voice lines leaning more silly, but still mostly played straight.

Random question, but what's the actual likelihood WWE is coming and it isn't some elaborate hoax to hide whatever it is? Not that I 100% think that's even a possibility that people creating spec maps and all would all agree to do that, and I don't care regardless, I think it'll be great, but I'm looking at the facades being built out in Hollywood that are visible to the public from the park and their's... looks like a Tiki shack? Where WWE is supposed to be? I asked my buddy who watches WWE if that's a thing, and haven't heard back from him yet, but everything I've looked up it just doesn't look to match anything.

I'd say it's pretty likely based off everything insiders have said, plus WWE's closeness with Universal/Comcast. As for the tiki shack, the house is rumored to be mainly revolved around Bray Wyatt's legacy, and the first major horror story in his career was the Wyatt Family, a cult of serial killers that lived out in a shack by a swamp.

THAT makes more sense. I wasn't sure if it was like a shack shack, or like, a house. I looked it up and this is the house that pulled up, so not sure if that's what it is you're talking about. https://preview.redd.it/wyatt-famil...bp&s=5a9124e526586b53ee8e404009267e27cd3fd2f5

The one in hollywood has straight up has thatched a roof like this, which I guess could make sense from a swamp shack perspective, just wasn't sure if it was copying something directly from WWE or not:
https://endureed.com/wp-content/upl...-Roof-Endureed-Synthetic-Thatch-1536x1021.jpg

Based on how pinpoint accurate every insider has been this year, it seemed really weird, but I was very thrown off by the look of it from Hollywood compared to what I expected.

Art the Clown can be a troll sometimes, and those moments are kinda funny to watch if you aren't terrified (lol) of clowns.

I don't see there being a central or singular house that is necessarily the comedy house of the year, but more like just houses with semi-comedic elements in them.

Fallout even since the original games, has always had some comedic elements in it just from the absurdity of mankind after years of living in a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland. But, I don't necessarily see many of those elements translating well to a house other than maybe some one-off raider lines or a really absurd kill.

Terrifier I can't see being very funny in regards to it's gore or kills, and from when I watched it, it wasn't over the top enough to be considered funny, and not realistic enough to be considered gross, but I do think that Art himself is pretty dang funny so there could be some playful elements with him.

Hatchet and Chain I just see being purposefully corny and campy, but not comedic. Definitely more like Bugs.

Since the new map suggests Terrifier will be in SS25, can it be expected to be a longer house? Are there any rumors on which films it will cover? I need those Christmas vibes in a house so bad, I haven’t experienced them yet

There’s a lot I’m very excited for at this years event, but it seems fair to say it’s not a particularly varied and well-rounded lineup. There are a lot of redundancies and omissions.

That said - and the comedy houses are always my favorites - at least all three zones have some potential for humor.

But it seems like they’ll really owe us some goofiness next year.

Just something I’ve been thinking about recently: HHN’s material seems like it’s gotten more comedic over the last ten years or so. I don’t even speculate what the single comedy house could be anymore because they kinda put humor in a lot of them. Last year almost half the houses were comedic. The New York scare zone is often tongue-in-cheek too (since 2015 there have been only three zones that I feel weren’t). This isn’t a complaint btw it’s just an observation; comedic elements can work because of the situations we are stepping into.

As for Hatchet and Chains, I’m sure it’ll be fun. I think about how the limited space of the sprung tent can make for a creative execution with such an expansive-sounding concept. Also unlike the Yeti houses, this seems to be a direct adaptation of the concept from Slaughter Sinema 2. The fact that the description needs to tell us these are lava demons is hilarious. I hope to see some cool lighting effects like Dueling Dragons had. Oh and the official art is really nice, I love how vibrant it is.

What we thinking today at 10:34? I have a feeling it’s Vikings. Then toys tomorrow. And graveyard Thursday to finish strong.

I think we will get NF or the lagoon on Friday. If not both shows or nothing at all. I don’t see them announcing an IP In the same week as all the originals.

Regarding the “Toys” rumor, my understanding is that it may actually be a dollhouse left abandoned in an attic. But it’s expressly NOT another Dollhouse of the Damned. The rumor shifted (for me) three weeks ago or so.

So yeah, it may be more dolls rather than toys.

Fallout is an interesting one, because there are absolutely comedic elements in both the games and the show, but the humor comes from the absurdity of things that are mostly played straight.

In the show, the comedic parts mostly come from Lucy's naive innocence compared to the horrors of the Wasteland.

I feel like El Artista a Spanish haunting Is going to be The House of the year, it’s going to be very beautiful. Also Haunting Like it Reminds of crimson Peak but more Spanish. And More an Adult retelling on Disneys Haunted Mansion on steroids. Also I’m Putting this as an icon House, because Sergio will defiantly will be appearing in the scaremony. I think he is about to be really popular to the Latino community.

Discoliz brought up a good point on of Sergio was an icon. She said he wasn’t bc he was a victim. No a leader of the event like Oddfellow or Jack. He’s not coming out of Fear’s lantern to cause chaos. Instead he’s the victim of said chaos.
