The storm probably affected lots of people from coming/canceling their vacations last week.

Busch Gardens was a mad house yesterday so I imagine we will be seeing terrible crowds the next few days with those already planned to be here and those that had their flights/arrivals delayed.

Uni definitely was getting much busier yesterday.

Not long after I made my post I heard about the absolute :x:show going on with Southwest, so that makes sense. Seems like more people are starting to trickle in, especially at the secondary Disney parks, but no insane wait times to gawk at like we had pre-COVID.

Always blows my mind when guests wait a long time for the Hogwarts Express. I can understand waiting a few minutes longer than what it would take to walk from USF to IOA, but 2 hours is banana land.

15 - 20 minutes with a stop at Hard Rock or Toothsome for a sit down? OK, I can deal
Train no wait is good, 2 hours is cray cray

Purely anecdotal, but it LOOKS like crowds picked up pretty heavily in the second half of last week, at least relative to where they were ~12/18 to Christmas. Didn’t see anything headline-worthy insane like in years past, but a couple big rides started flirting with 3 hours.

Interestingly enough, Magic Kingdom was the only park to really look average all week. Not sure if that’s because we’ve gotten used to it being jam packed all the time, they’re truly capping attendance with the reservation system, OR (and this one’s a little more out there), it’s the more quintessential tourist park and travel delays kept this holiday more local-heavy skewing guests toward the parks with newer rides (or in Epcot’s case, more alcohol).

Local schools are still on winter break. Some go back tomorrow and some on Monday.

Yeah, noticed this too, busy at Ripsaw too. I think a lot of it is also because of delays that were caused by the cold.

Does this mean the entire outdoor queue was used or is this because of the locker situation

I think it's a combination of, "this is when we have time off work/school" and a romanticism about going to these parks around the holidays. it is, as the kids say, Not For Me.

Now this is something I feel you would only ever see this time of year. This is what I would have planned to ride to escape the crowds, not to stand in an hour long wait. :lmao:

I'm sure there's some lack of knowledge too. Outside the enthusiast community, I don't think it's common knowledge that this is the busiest time of the year. People schedule vacations to see the christmas stuff, thats when the whole family can get off, etc. It's not till they get there that they find out how bad they screwed up. lol

I've asked this before....but who spends thousand of dollars on a trip and does zero research

One google search "WDW crowds" and you would see the red do not go tags on websites

For example when I go to Japan one day....I'm for sure watching videos on places....can I film? Crowds? Cultural differences? Prices? Merch? I mean so many things

I mean maybe if you live under a rock but most people in the state know summer and chritmas are packed at theme parks....and summer isn't even that bad any more but if kids are off you and you go to a theme park...what would you expect?

Anyway, good on USH, USF, Disneyland and WDW for being crowded they need the money from the kinda slow/normal year they have but I just won't understand why you come now and not in a week when no one is here....you pull your kids out of school....take time off work and go and if you can't afford to take off work you most likely shouldn't be at WDW anyway....
(to clarify if you can't take off because your a teacher, thats not what I'm taking about....I'm talking about those living pay check to pay check and in debt....spending money to go to WDW when you can't afford it)

Also kinda side note, my feed normally is FILLED with Disneyland live streams but these past 2 weeks almost nothing compared....glad most people took off the two weeks and didn't pay 200 bucks to visit a place we can go to 50 other weeks in the year
