Rockit valleyed again during the morning tests. The ride was closed all day waiting on a crane.

I know Rockit hasn't had the greatest start for a new ride, but it seems that the coaster valleys when the temperature drops quickly. Some coasters do have issues with sudden temperature changes, and it seems like Rockit is one them. Now if people were on it, it would be a different story.

However, I think Universal should learn their lesson when future attractions/rides are opening. Patience is a virtue..

Well so what they are going to do during Macy's and Grinchmas, Due to the event we don't want HRRR to take away we won't be running it for guest.

According to the online wait times, HRRR is back open today with a 75 minute wait time.

I wouldn't touch that coaster now with a 99 and a half foot black pole.

Anyways here's an interesting point from Primoose from the Vault.

The temperature mainly effects the steel on roller coasters. The steel can expand and contract causing differences in how well the ride runs compared to warm weather. Also, it may affect brakes or other components.

Dittos. I'm sticking with Manta (which has quietly not had a single issue, btw).

Also -- I never knew temperature could affect it like that, but it definitely makes sense. Just seems....... oh, I dunno...... they would've taken that into consideration?

I wouldn't worry to much about the ride until it happens with people on it. If it does however I'll be very weary about riding it until the issue is fixed.

Manta does have its own little issue. It's not to bad of an issue but, when I went on the ride for my 6th time someone was wearing a long dress. Her dress tripped the sensor in the station and the car immediatly stopped and we were stuck in flying position for 25 minutes. Its happened several times too apparently.

Uhm I love people's theroy's on the steel and weather. I think I am spending millions of dollars on a new state of the art ride. I think I will do some testing and such on all aspects, sounds like some one didn't do a lot of testing for a coaster in Florida maybe they should call Busch or the people who made there rides at IOA before they try this again. I am so waiting on this New Concept ride at Harry Potter now,,lol

I was at USF on Friday. The front gate sign said that HRRR would be down for the day. During lunch I looked up the online wait times on my phone and as Tbad said, there was a 75 minute wait.

I would worry about valleying though. It just happens to some roller coasters. Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka have rollbacks for the same reasons. You aren't in danger if your train valleys, you're just inconvenienced and the ride closes.

On a separate note, this past Friday was the first time I got the hidden tracks to work. I loved it. Rocked out to Iron Maiden.

Sweet. I'm going to pray it won't valley, and go for a night ride pretty soon. So stoked.

It hasn't valleyed with anyone one it. But if it does they will just get the cherry picker out and unload you. The place it valleys is pretty low to the ground and has easy access for the cherry picker. And it will make for a great "I got stuck on HRRR, and had to be evaced' story.
