Is this even a horror movie anymore? It sounds more like an action film lol.

I almost forgot to post my review of this movie! I saw it Thursday and really enjoyed it. While I don't think it's a masterpiece, it's a fun movie with some very entertaining performances. Sophie Thatcher is obviously the standout here. She's absolutely fantastic in this film and without her... honestly, I don't think this movie would be very good. The direction of the movie and the script are just very basic. Nothing really new or unique being is explored here, but it's not bad. Just nothing new. Thankfully Sophie is so good and she elevates the material. Love her in this movie. If you guys also watched this movie and enjoyed her performance, I highly recommend you to watch Yellowjackets if you haven't already. She's really great in that TV series as well. Anyway, I'm glad this film is a success. The ending sets up potential for a sequel and I think that could be really cool if it's done right!

I liked this too, but so many scenes in the movie felt like one of those "How Every Cringe Character in a Quirky Movie Talks" TikTok videos, only I don't think the writer-director was trying to be satirical. I really wished they had pushed deeper into to the dark comedy and went more bonkers with it, like Barbarian or even M3GAN. Like they just really needed to cut loose but they kept pulling back.

That's what happened with the first two Terminator films, and in all honesty with how beloved Megan is, that's not a bad direction to go in.

I think it's smart. M3GAN has already achieved "horror icon" status in the eyes of the general public, so why not make her a frenemy character? This direction also allows you to widen the scope of the world and avoiding repeating the beats of the first film.

Yeah I don't get the Sturm and Drang here. Horror antagonists turning good is basically time-honored tradition at this point.

I never said I had an issue with this. I'm just questioning if this movie should even be considered a horror movie that's all. I'm really excited for the film

Josh Ruben did a Heart Eyes Reddit Q&A, and answered my 3 questions!

  • Q: Is Thanksgiving in the same universe as Heart Eyes?
  • A: WE IN OUR OWN UNIVERSE BAYBEE!!! I like to think Heart Eyes is in the same universe as Jason Voorhees because I bathe my killer in the same lovely freaky blue moonlight...

  • Q: Do you have any ideas already for a sequel?
  • A: I DO have ideas for a sequel and I'd be SO excited if they let us go down that path... Please go see Heart Eyes in theatres and help make the dream become reality!!

  • Q: Do you know if there's any plans for the mask to be sold anytime soon? Would love to cosplay them!
  • A: YES YOU BETTER DAMN WELL BELIEVE IT! Tony Gardner created something way too iconic to not be sold to the friggin masses?!

It's a valid question, I don't think T2 is a horror movie while Terminator very much is. We'll see what the main villain is like, I think that'll be a big factor.

Sorry, I wasn't insinuating that you did have an issue with it. Just making the Terminator connection between the first film being horror and the second an action film.

This teaser made me cringe. Final Destination is one of those franchises that ruins everything for you lol

Curious to see how they incorporated Tony Todd since this is his last film. I know in the original film, it was insinuated that he was "Death" in human form. I'm trying NOT to remember how long it's been since the first film, bad enough the previous sequel was over 10+ years ago! :skull: #IM-OLD

It starts - “Awesome! I loved this guy in ‘The 100.’ I’ll make a point to see this just for him!”

It ends - “Oh.”

Real talk, have a trailer just be one death feels… telling. It feels like the rest of the movie may not be as creative, especially when the death they show isn’t the big disaster escape.

I'll be honest - Final Destination movies have always been a guilty pleasure for me. Watching that teaser did ignite my excitement though, and I'm ready for it.

Now this is getting ridiculous lmao. How many new horror movies are we going to get that's "from a different perspective". This one just seems silly
