This movie doing as well as it has done honestly feels like it came out of nowhere. I honestly wonder if the record heat around the country really worked in its favor on top of great word of mouth.

People I will NEVER see another Disney Movie again...your done and woke.....a few months later Inside out makes 1 Billion

Its also funny to watch channels be like Star Wars in done as this makes money....The Acolyte isn't that good to me..but does that mean the Mando film will suck and no one will see it? I just find it funny to see so many online openly bash Disney and maybe 1/10 of those outlets will talk about the successes of this film

I do not have a lot of available sympathy for studio executives, but man I'm glad my job doesn't involve trying to figure out what films will or will not be successful. It feels completely random as to what film audiences will show up for and which they'll reject.

I also think it’s a crazy take to make that The High Republic Era is bad or no one cares. If it was good people would care. Jedi: Survivor has a very good interwoven High Republic storyline, for example.

Yeah

I really don't get it, its a solid film but.....to me its not in the Tier of Puss and Buss 2, Shrek 1/2, How to Train Your Dragon, Toy Story 1-3 and other Pixar Classic like Up or Coco

But I mean Jurassic World 3 made insane box office and was not even a good film, lol

I have no idea what movie goers want...seems random

This was big with families especially any family with pre-teens or teens. It really spoke to them which that word got around fast and more and more people in those categories was going to see the movie. That is what made this movie popular it was so relatable to so many families.

I think people were just starved for a well made animated feature. It had been like what a year and a half since Puss in Boots and that kind of came out of nowhere, whereas Inside Out 2 had a huge marketing push.

Once again not a bad film, but its like Monster University. (which speaks to me, based on my life) but....there are just better films and sucks Puss and Boots can't make this when its...to me just on the top tier of animated films

But still random because...ok make another film like this and wont work...so they hit the right moment. Which is why I have no idea what studios should make, because sometimes basing it on real life works..and other the times the films do fine but don't knock it out of the park.

I hear what you’re saying, but Puss in Boots made plenty of money to incentivize Dreamworks to continue to make movies like it. Beyond that, I don’t think it matters much how much these movies make. At least, not to people who just want more good movies to be made.

I mean....these companies only care about profits

If the best films don't make as much money as just good films...then many studios will be like "well the audiance just wants good...so here is Kung Fi Panda 4 and its good enough"

Also I do like KFP4 but...its also not near the best like the first two films in the series.

But you are asking why and I gave you the why. Word of mouth gets more people into the theater and the bottom line was this had huge word of mouth amongst everyone I know with kids because it tackled a topic that is relatable not just to the parents but also the kids. So now you have a film that the kids are asking to watch (my daughter begged to go see it) and the parents are saying yes based on what other parents are saying. Almost everyone I know watched it in the theater, which is rare. I think Barbie was the last movie I saw this popular amongst everyone with kids. The one before Barbie was Frozen 2.

And you are right, film makers will never be able to say this is a sure hit, because every movie hits differently after it is watched. Some films get better word of mouth than others.

Do you and other's think companies don't follow trends?

Pixar is going to go from newer story's to more sequels again, if you think its not because they make more money then cool but all it will do is cause Disney at least to just make more sequels

Less new idea's like Coco, Luca and Soul and More toy Story 5 and 6...another finding Nemo and...so many more films that are just sequels because of Disney following the money and I hope other studios don't follow

the movie you're talking about as being better than inside out 2 is a spin-off film. what are you talking about?

Disney will see Inside out 2 as something telling them audiences want more sequels

this will lead at least for the next few years to them pushing for more sequels which seemed to be the plan already but this will just mean the next 10 years we will see wayyyyy less new idea's from Disney and just sequels. Like how for 10 years of live action remakes because a few made bank

Disney IS making a bunch of animated sequels. But not because Inside Out 2 did great, it’s because that’s the slate they’ve announced.

So you don't think affects anything? This won't push Disney to want even more sequels, we already knew Toy story and Frozen would do well but with something like Inside out 2 doing well, we could see even more sequels like Luca or Turning Red 2.

I know many don't care, but Pixar peak to me was when it was 90% new films and we got like a Toy story sequel in there and Disney is so hit or miss on sequels....Frozen 2 songs are amazing but the film it self....fine. Ralph 2 I mean come on...
