Still doesn't mean they're in the ride.

Because they can't do what the ride needed them to do.

I like the "goodbye" scene idea. If they pull it off like they do the Megatron sighting at the end of Transformers that could be pretty awesome. Hopefully it doesnt get cut, although I understand the bean-counters being weary of that.

About this King Kong animatronic...its been confirmed that this is happening? We do know for sure the finale is supposed to use Kong 360 technology...so I dont see how this ride would work with a Kong AA. I mean, that would be pretty anti-climactic right? Seeing a cool real-life King Kong only to then go through a big screen-tunnel and see him in 2-D for the finale would be sorta weird I think. If theres been confirmation of animatronics, I would assume theyre bugs or something along the way. If theres a Kong animatronic that should be the finale in my opinion.

What I expect to see is something like

360 experience, cut away to animatronic kong in another room, 360 experience, another AA Kong, finale

Nothing's been confirmed because nothing's been announced yet.

going back to the whole "there are AA's in the queue". that argument doesnt pass for me. I believe that their could have, and should have been AA's on gringotts. same for Kong.

Quite a lot bigger. About twice as tall, but keep in mind it was not the full Kong figure(just the top half). The arm span was over 50 ft wide.

Yes, love that part at the end of Transformers. Huge Kong AA could beat that, maybe as good as Tiffany.

Kong was very slow moving though and..in my opinion you hung out too much in front of it so the effect of the AA wore off quickly...Yeti however looked (past tense of course) more realistic and the effect of a giant AA was pulled off better because you only saw it for a fraction of a second...and the movement was more robust..a large and robust Kong animatronic with a lot of movement, that you only see for a brief time would be ideal in my opinion..

I've got to disagree with you guys about Jaws, I can't be the only one that doesn't think a fiberglass (sic) shark being propelled through water via external means is a marvelous AA. Each did one movement, and each movement was a different shark. It benefited by only popping up for a second or two at a time. Thought I would say the ride was an excellent example of storytelling, it did not matter that you saw very little of the shark(s) the excitement was there. (except when the water was too low and you could tell there was no rest of the shark lol)

I would be down for a Kong AA in the queue. Possibly in a giant cage, but when you get in the ride he escapes and you need to get away.

They weren't technologically impressive but they did their job almost too well. Scary as hell and looked real at points (boathouse got me really bad as a kid). Also according to insiders it'll probably be more sets than screens along with AAs of monsters. I wouldn't get disappointed to soon

I never liked JAWS..... (yeah I said it lol) It wasn't that great for me, The shark was cool but the rest of the ride was kind of boring. And if you were sitting in the middle you couldn't even see it that well,

I never liked it either, probably went on the ride 3 times during its run and it's all due to the skippers. Come at me

Agree. I took my GF on it, she wouldn't ride it a second time, also said it was boring. I thought it was OK, but not outstanding, kind of a waste considering how much space it occupied.

Now I agree with you Cole (and code) that the skippers made the ride. But those sharks never looked real, even set aside the unnaturally mechanical movements (few were good but few were bad) they looked like giant plastic toy sharks. I think your imagination scared you more as a kid than the actual sharks.

And shiekra is right that Kong was many years behind Yeti (when it worked) as far as movement.

Jaws was a CLASSIC ride. And at night, it was so much better because you really couldn't see him coming, plus the fire effects, etc. Also, the skippers tended to go a lot more off-script at night and had some of the funniest spiels I'd ever heard. Ugh. Just one of the best attractions ever.

I actually meant the reason why I only rode it 3 times was because of the skippers. The ride itself was amazing but they just annoyed the hell out of me

It really was looking at the videos, I'd say kong looks slower paced than jaws but looked way more amazing theming wise. I don't know which one I would've liked more honestly, maybe I'm not missing much

Yeah, Kong and Jaws were pretty similar and I'm not sure how anyone can like Kong but dislike Jaws because of how similar they are, but Kong was way, way slower. Also, the thrill really wasn't there with Kong. With Jaws, if the water was high enough, you didn't know when the shark would pop up which gave the ride an element of surprise. With Kong, you saw him coming...for awhile...and you slowly pass him by. The biggest thrill was him dropping the tram, which wasn't that big of a drop either. The theming was much better on Kong, I'll give it that. It did give the illusion that you were flying high above buildings in New York.

Seems like we are all kinds of disagreeing about Jaws today

The skippers were hit or miss, some could stay in the moment but others reminded me of Arnold Schwarzenegger's first movie where he was saying syllables put together that sounded like English but you could tell there was no meaning behind the words.

The queue and scenery at the old Kongfrontation were quite amazing for the time they came out, Jaws had great scenery too.

I don't think jaws was ever worth riding during the day. You could literally see all the effects and the element of surprise was often ruined. Had some great memories of going on Jaws after a few pints at HHN. Delayed reaction time actually helps make the ride more enjoyable

What made the old Kong ride so great is that it was like a lot of the classic Disney rides....slow and atmospheric. Everything today seems like it has to be fast and frenetic and I guess they think screens are the only way to do that. I hope that eventually they realize that slow and atmospheric is just as cool and a great way to include the entire family. Sets give you the feeling of actually being there, as opposed to feeling like you just watched something on a tv.
