Y'all must be mistaken. That is Lt. Dan, lead singer of The Lt. Dan Band. Though he is best known for playing himself in the true-story movie about his friend Forest Gump's life.

I'm pretty certain that's not true.

I'm going to have to agree with you there. The park is aware they can't seem to stop their employees from taking pictures of something that is so high profile you would have to be stupid to post pictures of it, but they think the team can keep disaster closing quiet?

So how much detail do we have on this alleged Kong attraction? Is it a CG-driven simulator? They likely won't use a puppet again, right?

I'd take puppets or animatronics over another 3-D attraction in a heartbeat!

I highly agree. 3D attractions can be great (ex: Transformers), but the novelty of it will wear off if you do it too much. It's best to keep the types of attractions diverse.

I hope for a huge animatronic Kong. If so there is no doubt it would be drastically more realistic than the previous ride.

Are we still looking at disaster closing in november? Also when do you expect universal to release the closing of disaster?

I believe the current speculation is saying that Disaster will be axed in January, right after the winter break is done. That would allow the ride to soak up capacity during the busy days.

I have a friend who was just hired as a Lonnie with a start date of November. I expect Disaster to stay open at least through New Year.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't care about this whole project. Just the whole concept of it doesn't sound exciting and again we'd lose another house location. Kind of wish this wasn't happening.

And we lose another oldie. Disaster isnt original to the park but the basic structure of the ride portion is, and is still nostalgic despite the changes.

I'm alright with losing Earthquake/Disaster, especially if it ends up being beneficial to the park. Neither of them were ever one of my favorites.

I'm all for losing Disaster if we get Kong back. Disaster is a fun ride, but I almost never go on it because the whole experience is around 45 minutes and I just don't feel like spending 45 minutes on one short ride when I could be doing other things instead

Exactly. Hopefully if Kong happens they'll bring it down to just one pre-show or no pre-show. That would increase the re-rideability factor by tons.

But from Universal's point of view, isn't the long length of the attraction a good thing? Keeps people busy for a good long time and away from the two hour lineup to get into Diagon Alley

I guess...but still. It doesn't make for a very local-friendly ride.
