Judging by some of the pictures, it seems that the concrete foundations are mainly at the edges of the plot and not in the middle, so is the middle where the outdoor scenes will be?

Not necessarily. This kind of construction is common in Florida. They build an outside structural wall for the steel, and then smooth and pack the sand base in the middle and finally, they pour the concrete floor. Below is an example of this before the final slab is poured.

There are foundations all around the work site. Not just on the outside. Some going 10-20 feet underground with concrete and re-bar.

Yeah, I always think of the deep ones as either part of the ride track or large effect placement. Hmmm... what large and heavy effect might be present on this project? :stunned: If so, let's hope it's more substantial than that other failed base structure a few miles distant...

The same could be said with Disney princesses, fairy tales, and happily ever after. I'd list the attractions but it's not necessary. Fact is both are catering to their paying customer.

Mermaid, SDMT, soon to be Frozen....

Peter Pan I guess has a Happily Ever After, sort of... Small World is the happiest cruise on Earth... I really don't think Pooh slots into those categories either.

WDW actually has a decided lack of rides for the princess crowd compared to how much they market towards them.

I too hope Kong manages to break away from the recent uniformity. Here's hoping for physical sets and AA's.

Exactly. The fact is, both resorts need to make an effort to break their molds they've set for themselves. Whether it's screen rides or happy ever afters, let's get something a bit different.

I want something that makes me really WANT to go to Uni. A ride that is Unique from everything else in the park. Not that the theming in Diagon isn't great, but I want a ride that blows me away theming wise. Conversely, Disney could step it up a bit and create a more diverse selection of attractions as well. Dare I say Screen-based rides? (And no that's not being hypocritical, because WDW isn't filled with them like Uni is).

When they gut The Great Movie Ride (in 3 years after all reserved private functions have ended) there's been talk of doing a new ride using the same technology as the Ratatouille ride in Paris. Whether that just means trackless ride vehicles or 3D screens I don't know, but that could be something more screen-based. And Jim Hill has said they'd do it sooner if not for all the people that already paid to have receptions in Munchkinland.

No offense, but you haven't seen Gringotts. The sets are pretty damn amazing in there.

And who are you to make these claims about what I have and haven't seen? I saw it just recently before HHN.

Yes, the sets ARE amazing. Now give me that in a ride, minus the screens and 3D.

The only real complaint that I have about Gringotts is that it is too short. The "coaster" section plays a major role in the movie and yet it is minimized on this ride. Even if they couldn't physically fit a longer track in the building they could have used a screened section of coaster track (think Kong in Hollywood) to add another 30 seconds to the ride.

As far as Kong goes.....I think that we will see something totally unique with this ride. Just have some of it outside will make it different from recent additions.

:pop: this pretty much sums up all the projects universal does now...just sit back and enjoy the show...Universal has moved into a whole new era with building rides and renovating. As a long time FL resident I'm here to tell you its amazing and much appreciated how much comcast dumped into universal. universal has come a long long way....so kong as was hogsmeade, transformers, and diagon will be top notch and aesthetically amazing!

Give me some examples.

Just because i'm not 100% Positive about everything Uni does doesn't mean I don't love the resort. I'm much more excited about their future than WDW's, but everything must be properly criticized in order and not just be looked at as perfect because Uni did it. I like to stay middle of the road on things, I have no incentive to be pro-Uni or Pro-WDW. I criticize what I see very fairly imo.

Some of you Uni fanboys are without a doubt worse than the worst pixie dusters. And that says a lot.

None of us are being fanboys, we call BS when we see it (look at the HHN threads). But Diagon and gringotts however are FAR from BS. You have to be blind to say universal is a perfect resort, look how much crap needs to be replaced!!! Feel like your just trying to get a rise out of us and that ain't right, love everybody hate everything....kungaloosh

I don't know if you just joined in here and thought it'd be cute to comment on something you have no knowledge of, but I NEVER said Diagon and Gringotts aren't great rides/lands. Diagon is great, Gringotts is too.

What I said was that I want Universal to blow me away with something truly unique to themselves. No screens, no 3D. Something that will stand out among the resort. That's all I said. I don't think that's even being negative as much as just wanting to the best for the whole resort, yet I get blasted for it.

I honestly feel like Universal needs screens. They don't know how to make a ride without screens. It's just getting ridiculous to the amount of screen based rides there are at this resort.

Because you told me you weren't going to go to universal until Kong opened on twitter. Lol

You can moan about screens all you want. The ride isn't possible without them
