It would be pretty cool if they put it in multiple parks like and have a Roc flight monorail like Hogwarts Express to connect it to a new third gate. Then somehow connect the third gate to something at the other park using a different theme. It would be like a transportation system of fun instead of Disney buses of slumber.

Yeah, assuming the 2 park potter plan is as big as it should be, I can't see them doing LOTR as a one park idea unless they absolutely have to.

Hmmm…now that Saul Zaentz (one of the key parties in the LOTR rights group) has passed away (on Friday, 1/03/14) at the age of 92, I wonder what this is going to do for the future of LOTR? I know the (alleged) holdout in the whole LOTR-coming-to-UOR was Tolkien's son, James. I wonder if this will move anything along or not?

This doesnt mean anything... yet...

Just means they are willing to cut this one out. I want to hear if they are willing to take out blutos (dont like the barrel ride as a good idea because you get SOAKED on this compared to RSF) - and even with that, that isnt enough space for LOTR. However, best place they got (Unless they do gate 3). We are going to have to give it a few weeks, or months, unless an insider wants to give us the scoop of whats going on with TL if they do, however, get this deal and it ends up that this becomes their main priority after kong, then HTF may be right when he predicted a 2018 opening.

I love how as soon as this appeared on Twitter, everyone immediately jumped back to the LOTR train of thought :sneaky:

I honestly don't know what to wish for on this one. The selfish and impatient part of me wants this to take TL just so we get it faster, but the sensible part of me wants it done properly and knows that it can only be done justice in a third gate, but that'll take years longer. Hmmm.

As long as we get one or the other!

What I WOULD be down for....

Land area of toon lagoon is all for LOTR... Blutos and the lake are for the hobbit and they create lake town for a portion of the middle of the lake

Martin Smith is Marni on Magic as well as on here. He produces all those tribute videos (FOR FREE MAY I ADD, UNLIKE OTHERS WHO MAKE YOU PAY AN ARM AND A LEG!!!), and has the reputation as being a well informed insider.

You know what would be cool??? If they had the Eye of Sauron in his tower and have him look around the area at guests. They could have replica rings that you could buy and like the micro chip sticker they have in the Transformers 3D glasses, so when you walk certain areas with the ring, sensors would go off, and the eye of Sauron could shine on you!!!

I've always thought that if they put LOTR into IOA, they need to redo the lighthouse at the front of the park as Sauron's Tower and eye. Now if they could do like you said and make it move and watch guests, that would be wicked.

noooooo!!! :'( I'm conflicted. I love Toon Lagoon and Dudley/Popeye's. But I also really enjoy the LOTR franchise. I think personally I would rather have them put LOTR in a third gate or somewhere else in Universal Orlando. I also feel it deserves multiple expansions like the Harry Potter franchise.

Why would they get rid of Dudley? Even if they decide to turn Toon Lagoon into Middle earth, would it not be better to just spruce the ride up?

I sympathize!
Third gate would make sense actually, have the third gate themed as the lost continent and have middle earth as one of the lands.

I guess that's a good point. If they kept the actual ride the same but as LOTR and amped up all the show scenes, I would have to give in.

They would have to change A LOT.. first and foremost.. the awful mousetrap seating. It's so uncomfortable.

Plus, Dudley's doesn't have the best capacity. If they did try to retro-fit, they'd need a two-seater log for sure.

As picky as the Tolkien family is... I don't think they will settle for an overhaul of an old ride.

As one of the lands?

No, As all of the land

Land of the dwarfs, man, hobbit, elves and orcs (mt doom)... there are your 5 islands

"But Hans, there are so many places in HP that did not become park attractions at UNI"

To those who were about to respond that, refer to the following image.
