I guess I don't see the point in it? Moving it to another thread just cuts off the convo for no apparent reason. This happens a lot on this forum. It's not like we have much to discuss right now anyways.

I don't know, I just don't think off topic talk has ever been an actual problem.

because if people open the Moana 2 thread, they expect to find posts related to the topic. you’re welcome to disagree with this and our efforts to keep the threads organized, but we do ask you follow the rules.

For what it's worth, it's pretty simple to cut and paste a Quote from one thread to another. I've done it a few times when I wanted to add to an off-topic discussion that had been going on for multiple posts already.

If there’s nothing to discuss, that means you just let the thread sit until there IS something to discuss. For example, The Acolyte has had a thread since 2020. It has 2 pages of conversation, all on topic and most of it in the past few weeks since there was actually something to discuss surrounding it.

Just Saw Moana 2…my god was it generic and it will still make bank

The songs, the plot and pretty much everything outside the animation is second rate.

I will give the animators credit they did as good a job as they could but outside of that this is a very poor sequel.

I’ll go on record and say I enjoyed Wish and Aladdin 2 more than this and both definitely had better songs.

I know this will be a hit but it gives me little faith in Disney film making abilities feels like they are directionless and will just rely on nostalgia and sequels over trying to make new timeliness stories

(PS if you think Frozen 2 was meh like I did at least that film had songs and tried to have a message or plot...this is just more Moana and feels like a set up for a Video game or TV show)

Sounds like it should have stayed a D+ series.

I mean....I hate it but looks like Disney made the right choice. They took somewhat ever series gave it some extra paint, some generic songs you wont remember and a.....villain that plays almost nothing into the film and you make bank because its an IP kids like

Also a reminder this was not done in house at Walk Disney but by a partner studio Vancouver....so this is going to teach Disney the lesson of Disney fans will watch crap as long as you tie it to the right IPs and....may even push the Star Wars Rey films to come out because money....

Anyway, at least for me this I think will just make an era of Disney films It might be better if I just skip because....Moana 2 really was a blow to me on just how people online say they want real movies...yet support this. You skipped Transformers for this? Most families skipped Wild Robot for this? Just....yeah its insane to me but its the world we live in where good movies are not rewarded

A key thing on the box office is rather simple, the reason why folks came in droves to see Moana 2 is the same reason folks came out in droves to see Inside Out 2, because the original films are quite beloved, so of course people are gonna' see the sequel...regardless of what the quality of said sequel is. While I don't think Inside Out 2 is as good as the first, it's still heads and tails better than Moana 2 which can't justify its existence beyond they want more money.

Yeah, Inside Out 2 isn't perfect but at least there was effort. It was still really good and didn't feel like a cash grab. Moana 2 is just... it all felt so unnecessary and just generic. Worst part is that it's not a bad movie, just a very mediocre one. Hopefully they can get Lin Manuel Miranda back for Moana 3... those songs were not nearly as good as anything in the first movie lol.

Fully agreed, Inside Out 2 had a good natural story angle to run with Riley growing up and thus encountering new emotions. That alone is a good reason to justify making it.

And yeah, I'd say the worst part of Moana 2 is the songs. It's a shame since the songs in the 1st film are flat-out delightful, while the ones here are completely forgettable. Once again, they tried emulating Lin-Manuel Miranda with other people, and it just doesn't work because they're not LMM. You want songs with his style? Get the man who can actually do it, don't waste other people's talents in trying to replicate him.

Obliterated the five-day Thanksgiving record in the face of really stiff competition including the third-best five-day ever.

Bob C should have been fired solely for slotting Moana 2 as a direct to streaming movie.

Reviews have been pretty terrible so it will most likely drop off fast.

87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes isn't what I would describe as "pretty terrible."

And it’s not like the tepid reviews for Frozen 2 hurt that film either. The critics would have to beat this with the ugly stick for it to suffer. It should hold fine until Sonic 3 and Mufasa open.

It's a movie intended for young kids, that demo really isn't hard to impress.

I don't think many young kids are jumping on Rotten Tomatoes to leave their Reviews....
