How the heck would Peach's castle be a bad weenie/icon? Especially how would it be the "worst in Orlando"? :?:

You can't center a castle that it is that reminiscent of Cinderella Castle in the center of a new theme park in Orlando. You just can't.

Now, if you have a park that has 4 or 5 castles, one per land, I say go for it.

Yea, I mean considering DL's icon is the most pitiful one on the planet, and that park kicks major butt, I don't see the problem. EDIT: And now that I think about it, DCA's icon ain't all that much better.

(I also don't think it would be the icon, but there are much, much worse)

I incorrectly thought he meant the park icon- not just a land icon. Land icon- fantastic.
But an IP as the icon I thought would've been terrible.

But again, I just misinterpreted. My bad.

I wouldn't want any park icon to be directly taken from an IP

That's just an assumption though- maybe even wishful thinking. If going to the new park- I would say there is a much greater chance of getting an identical land as what we were originally getting in USF (and USJ) vs a larger and better land in the new one.
At most we might get wider walkways like USH got for Hogsmeade.
But if USJ is adequate, we're getting a carbon copy.

Exactly. It’ll just be waiting longer for more or less the same damn thing.

I doubt that's all we get. It would be a waste of time to save it, plus Nintendo is probably salivating at the mouth looking at all the land Universal just bought.

Not when it's going to bring hordes of people to your new theme park.

I'm going to have to disagree. Is that what UOR might be thinking, yes- because they are an older generation of management. In fact, the same management that saw a vastly superior IoA have underwhelming attendance.

But it's not 1999. It's the social media age. Information, ride throughs, pics, social media- all will play a major factor here. Look at VB- not a single IP- just a water park- and at capacity daily. Why? Instagram, social media and on-site guests.

UOR w/ park 3+ isn't the "shorter weekend stay" crowd anymore. It's the week-long on-site vacation crowd similar to Disney.
Yes, but when you're talking about attendance in the 8-15 million range, a huge chunk of that is on shorter stays, and the presentation will still matter in targeting guests that aren't there for all 3 parks, and as we've discussed around here before, Mario has the more recognizable locations.

Is there a Pokemon land that you could build that would be as easily sold as this as your main anchor?:

super-nintendo-world-999515.jpg

I do think there's somewhat of a risk of guests on shorter vacation length skipping the 3rd dry park if the flagship SNW is in USF. How much does that matter in the grand scheme of things? Is it enough to cause USF to have a measurably higher attendance than the 3rd dry park even after a decade or so of the 3rd dry park being in operation?

All those questions are important because the 3rd dry park will likely come with around 5000 hotel rooms and CityWalk 2.0. It absolutely needs to be drawing 10 million guests annually within 5-7 years of operation. The best way to do that is to slap Mario's SNW in there as the main anchor.

I think we'll get more Nintendo spread around the parks- but the mario kart/yoshi/DK artwork and ride specs- I expect to remain exactly the same.

I'll defer to Alicia- who I agree with completely here- note her last paragraph.
AliciaStella said:
Only ever seen it speculated in articles. No credible source has told me anything about Pokemon going anywhere. We’ll see.

I will say about the 4th Park situation:

Jurassic Park The Ride was originally meant for USF, and was to go roughly where MiB is now. It was completely designed and plans drawn up for it to go there. Then the plans for an all cartoon based park next door sort of fell through so they decided to anchor the new park with JP.

What does this have to do with Nintendo? In the meantime, Jurassic Park the ride opens in Hollywood and it would be 3 years later before it opens with IOA. Moral of the story? I guess what I’m trying to say is that while our version of the ride is surrounded by better theming and more attractions, the ride itself is barely different from the original plans.

If you’re expecting Mario Kart or Donkey Kong to be plused because it’s going to a bigger park, you’re in for a rude awakening. Maybe some extra “attractions” and a bigger restaurant and maybe a nicer castle, but don’t expect the E tickets to evolve in any measurable way. Just expect to wait several more years.

woah, never realized this. I guess those castles have became more famous for being at their parks than for being in the original material, that's crazy.

Eh, I'm not really going to entertain this. But you should chill out man. It's not that serious. Production delays happen, and I promise you it's for the better of Universal Parks as a whole. Also, you are spoiled. Most parks everywhere else in the country wait anywhere between 3-7 years for a new attraction. You are getting multiple rides, shows, attractions and resort improvement every single year for the next 5 years or so, to cap it all off with a new "Cornerstone" theme park... And the possibility of one or two more directly after that.

If you don't enjoy universals current offerings, and Mario is the only thing you are invested in you should probably just take a break from the discussion because reading you whining for the next few years will grow tiresome.

She talks about the E-Tickets not evolving, and says there might be extra attractions and a nicer castle and stuff like that. She doesn't say that there wouldn't be anything new.

My stance on this? The delay sucks, yeah, but it's a theme park land and I have much more important things to get that invested in. Especially since the reason for the delay makes sense from a business perspective. And yeah, I know that's not supposed to concern me, but even I can understand wanting to keep the biggest IP acquisition since Potter as a draw for a risky new 3rd park.
