I agree with the majority of your post, but you gotta admit, the crate effect is WAY better.

Yea, I've always thought the explorer is a hilariously bad effect.

From what I’ve seen nothing in the original plans was “rushed.” It was years of drafting, re-drafting, planning and if it’s good enough for the other two parks around the world, as is, there’s no reason to believe it’ll get much better when they eventually build it here.

Going back to my original story about JP, think of what changes we actually saw on River Adventure. What are the good changes? What are the bad? The Explorer was replaced with an empty crate falling because the Explorer effect was unreliable. Dilophosaurs were moved inside because skins in the sun weren’t holding up to well. Sure, we have more greenery. Yea we got a nice Visitor’s Center out of it, and our Nintendo may have a bigger castle when all is said and done... but at the end of the day, those E Ticket rides are already designed. And I don’t see them getting any better in any real ways.

Is it worth 3 extra years for better crowd flow? That’s up to you to decide. If this is the direction they’re going in, it’s a business decision to guarantee a good IP to anchor a new park.

Maybe if we saw the additional Jeep ride and Helicoptours open with IOA in 1999 I’d be singing a different story, but we all know how that turned out.

Again, thanks Alicia. Looks like I’ll have to go to Japan or Hollywood. Better start saving.

Screw Universal.

Tell that to younger me that saw the explorer in a commercial for the ride on the JP VHS and could not wait to see it in person only to have it be a clearly empty crate falling two feet. Even if the effect is not great, losing the iconic Explorer from the ride was something I (clearly) never got over lol.

yeah, but I consistently hear people shriek when it comes down, while it isn't really the most impressive effect, it is effective. I've always wondered, what if I (6 foot) stood up while it was falling? :bonk:?

Guys, @AliciaStella is only talking about the current rides we have. It's not like we won't get anything new at all.

Plus, anything could happen before opening day.....

I think if SNW has moved to Park 3, we should expect KidZone to live out until at least 2020.

All the more reason to hope Nintendo still ends up there. USF needs 3 sizable, non-screen-reliant attractions yesterday, and I don't have faith that Ministry of Magic or Shrek's replacement are going to materialize anytime soon.

Those two are gonna materialize faster at USF than Nintendo will, I'd guarantee it

Screw UC, screw F&F, screw Jason Bourne, and screw Harry :x: Potter. They announced Nintendo almost three :x: years ago and I expected shovels in the ground at this point. Of course all the fanboys will wave this aside but god forbid Disney did the same thing they’d be all over them in a heart beat lol.

“How can they be taking so long to build Nintendo?!?!?! It would’ve started already if Universal was doing it!!!!!” :lmao:

yeah, it's been quite a while since announcement... I feel like a lot of GP people assume they're just never gonna make it

There's a difference between being disappointed and throwing a temper tantrum like a child. Am I disappointed that I'll have to wait for Nintendo? Sure. But being viscerally upset isn't gonna change that. Nothing I can do about it, and I know when it gets to Orlando all the kinks will be worked out and it'll work like a charm.

Plenty to see and do coming to Orlando from Disney and Universal in the meantime

A lot of the GP has no idea it's a thing, and won't until it's announced/marketed as opening.

Nothing at Universal is even a blip on my radar except the fact that they finally tore down Dragon Challenge. Nintendo is the biggest exciting thing by FAR. Even all the other IPs discussed for the third park I barely care about which is why I feel as if Mario is being held hostage just to prop everyone else up. I would be excited for something cool with Marvel but they’re dragging their feet on that too.

Again, as I've said before, you're taking this way too personally. They're not doing this to screw with you. They're doing this to make the best business decisions possible. It is what it is.

It's a business decision as @AliciaStella said. If the main SNW ends up on a 10-12 acre spread at the 3rd park, then it's because they needed that as the anchor there. The attractions will likely be the same, but on a larger piece of land with better crowdflow.

Look, if Vivendi had never sold the 1800 acres and instead built 2 theme parks on it, then you'd probably have 3 Nintendo areas being built in 3 of the 4 parks with completion dates around 2020-2021 for all 3 lands. There's no doubt in my mind about that. Universal would not be sitting on the Nintendo IP if they already had a fully built out 2nd resort.

That's the difference between where WDW is and where Universal is. Universal has spent the past 3 years acquiring land (finally appears to be done), and now they're going to finally get the 2nd resort built. WDW can do what they're doing because they already have the fully built out resort, it just needs all the IP now of TSL/SWL/GOTG/etc.

It makes too much sense to move Mario to the 3rd dry park. The last thing you want to end up with is a situation where in 2030, your attendance numbers for the parks looks like this (Mario in USF):
USF: 15 million
IoA: 12 million
3rd: 8 million

I get that fans don't care about business matters like that, but those are the issues that should matter to Universal execs. If Mario is being moved to the 3rd dry park, it's a business decision being made to avoid an attendance imbalance from being created, nothing else. If they don't think the above scenario would happen, then they would build Mario in USF.

Is F&F still the last "screen" ride that's coming out?

It does make sense for them to want to put SNW in the third (non-water) park.

Right. Site B is "remote". They want to ensure the people staying at the original resort go to it no matter what. The best way to do that is to stack the main park there with as much stuff to draw people as possible.

It’s been said somewhere that they want to move forward basing their attractions more on practical sets and effects than screens, but that in now way means that F&F will be the last screen based attraction. Trust me, I wish it did.
