This. I think it'd be a steal coaster made to look like a rickety old mine cart

Thanks. Thought this would be the case. Wonder if they'll go back to premier rides. You know what would be nice? You get out of the station, head to a mild seesaw section, cart goes forward and locks into place, then the seesaw goes up (where the cart is), cart unlocks and travels backwards, ends up on a lower track, then moves forward again to a vertical lift or whatever. Anyway, using the seesaw would be an interesting way of incorporating the setup of the original game.

I won't pretend to know what the setup would be, but I wouldn't expect it to be that advanced. I think the concept here would be something more "classic"

I am hoping classic and no higher than a 40" height restriction.

Same. As much as I love thrill rides, Universal has plenty of them. I'm hoping that this area is as family friendly as possible.

As we've been saying this entire thread, that's the point of the project. It's going to be Universal's Fantasyland. Maybe a bit more "Universal" than "Fantasyland", but still

Ummmm.... Who said you can't? Big Thunder Mountain is 40" height restriction. If they could make DK as good as BTM, they will have a huge win on their hands. I think everyone is in agreement with that.

USF has a good balance of coasters, DK would make it the perfect range:

Low intensity: Gringotts
Mild intensity: DK
Moderate intensity: Mummy
High intensity: Rockit

FWIW, I don't think it'll be as big as BTM. I was just giving an example of space with my post.

Agreed, but I think they can get the theming to be just as good if not better. They can also get it to be a little longer than say a 7 Dwarfs coaster.

To make it longer in duration than 7 Dwarfs they just need to add more slowed down dark scenes. Then you wouldn't need a ton of space like BTM. It's the good dark scenes and/or special effects that are the spice of a mild family coaster, in my opinion.

I'll be honest, considering the property, there shouldn't be slow dark ride scenes in a Donkey Kong coaster

Here's how I would "Blue Sky" the ride:

Queue through Donkey Kong Country, including DK and his family's homes. End at the loading platform where DK and friends have setup a mine cart ride for you. Ride starts with a lift hill and a small scene where King K. Rool steals DK's bananas. As we get to the top, Diddy Kong appears and reveals the top of the hill is actually a barrel, blasting us off in a much milder version of the Hulk "launch on a lift hill". The rest of the ride is mostly through the caves of DK Island, with a few outside portions. We'll pass some dioramas of DK trying to retrieve the bananas, with a final scene at the end depicting his victory.

Simple, easy, and fun.

Given that there's multiple, unexpected launches on Gringotts, I don't think most parents would consider Gringott's "Low Intensity" for their children. Low Intensity is Hippogriff and Woody's Coaster.

I feel like the kiddie ones are a league of their own, neither are that intense. Gringotts at least has the drop and spinning curve.

I think that fast/slow would work... 15-20mph

A mine type ride in an enclosed space would make a coaster feel far faster than it is. I don't know how this would affect how intense people would perceive the ride to be.

Hey, I love Gringott's, but I think it's better served to be classified as a "mild" coaster, just because of the launches. The first time I went on it I was legitimately shocked (in the best way possible). But something like that isn't something you get in a "Low Intensity Coaster" imo also.
