Nothing in the teaser video do we see anything remotely Zeldaesque. And the more recent concept art has been Mario and Donkey Kong, so I think the smart betting is on Zelda being out, at least for Phase One. Why anyone would keep spreading that with almost no information to go on is beyond me.
In fact, I think Lost Continent turning into Hyrule is a safer bet than anything Zelda-related going into the Mario phase. That island is falling apart, with two attractions that nobody cares about, and the only real options Universal has right now to replace it are Nintendo or Dreamworks. Zelda could be plopped down in here with very little work, beyond great attraction ideas. Sindbad is so generic that he could easily be replaced by Link, and they'd just have to change the Arabian facades into something appropriately Hyrulian. (Poseidon would take a little more time to turn into an actual E-Ticket, but the facades would need far less work since crumbling temples are kind of a Zelda thing. They would just need to de-Greekify the courtyard.)
If I were doing it, I'd demolish Mythos and the Poseidon statue ruins when I started construction on KidZone. I'd divert traffic closer to the Poseidon entrance - keeping it open - which leaves a nice plot of land on the lagoon for an E-Ticket housed in a fantastic temple that would be seen from anywhere on the lagoon. A few months from finishing this, I'd close down Sindbad and the Arabian section of Lost Continent, re-theme it all, and open a Hyrule Island at the same time I opened Super Nintendo World. They could advertise "Nintendo in two parks!" and they would be able to do it without affecting visitors much. No sit-down restaurant for a couple years and no time-wasting Sindbad show for a few months?Done and done! The new land would open with Poseidon behind walls, which would be replaced with another great attraction for Phase Two. If the show wears out its welcome quickly, then Phase Three can be tearing that theater down for a third attraction.
After the lukewarm reception of Skull Island, IOA needs something in the win column. One of the rumors getting more heat is a Dragon Challenge replacement, but I have an issue with closing down two attractions right now. They should get Hyrule built and then closing down those coasters - or Toon Lagoon for a retheme - will go over much more smoothly.
It's going to be an interesting five years...
Please tell me MK is not just augmented reality or VR...I will cryUC is gonna crap their pants when they see that video. I mean really crap their pants!
It's not as seen by the space the building takes and all the other info said here. Please tell me MK is not just augmented reality or VR...I will cry
Mixed reality probably, seems most of it will be physical reality, but with certain augmented reality effects; so probably this will ironically be the opposite of 4D stuff, were practical effects are there for added effect, in MK, most things will be practical and there will be a VR element just for some added kick. Please tell me MK is not just augmented reality or VR...I will cry

I believe that this was the ride system (no peddling, add interactivity) they were looking at for Bullet Bill's. I was told it was scrapped for capacity reasons.
ETF Suspended Flight
Makes me think, wouldn't Bullet Bill not be better if they used a ride system a la ET?First off, everytime you post information, I scream for joy (internally, of course). Love your insider knowledge and posts man- really appreciate it.
I'm all for this still coming to fruition- in particular with that ride. I was thinking Dr. Seuss High in the Sky Trolley originally, but Pteranodon is even better. This is, ultimately, twice the capacity of that as it seats 4 instead of 2. Additionally, if capacity is an issue, they can do the "1st and last hour can be adults" they do with PF and the rest is under (?) 54".
Capacity wouldnt be as big of an issue as PF, because of what else is in the land. So instead of just the JP play area, you have Donkey Kong play area, Luigi's play area, pokemon interactive area, Kirby's splash area- as well as multiple other flats (3 or 4- I dont recall off top of head). That, and again, it's double capacity.
But ultimately- it would just be badass. To have that giant bullet floating above you on occasion would just be incredible from a visual/kinetic standpoint.
Truthfully, Zelda just sticks out like a sore thumb here. Although Kirby doesn't "fit" either- it fits fine as it's animated. But Zelda is more "life like". I wish itd be exactly like that map but replace Zelda with Yoshi.
But I also understand the appeal from Universal's standpoint of hitting everything in one area. This whole land would print so much money its just stupid. Hitting every demographic and making every age smile ear to ear. Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Kirby, DK- all in one spot? It'll make butterbeer and wands play 2nd fiddle on the P&R statement.
Hard to when everyone speaks in code and winky face emojisDoes anybody read what's posted in this thread?
I will...but from joyIf 90% of what you see is real fantastical sets made of wood, foam and paint, you will still cry?
There's been so much information that it is understandable people get confused, and when news articles lazily throw around augmented reality, well, it doesn't help.Hard to when everyone speaks in code and winky face emojis

:thumbsup:Every person with info on the project since day 1 has said it's primarily physical. To my knowledge no one has been coy about that.

It has? Where? I've never heard anyone say Mario Kart was going to be a screen based attractionIt's been tossed around from screen to practical
I mean- sure- technically, it would be better in and of itself if looked at on its own. No different than a dark ride on a pteranodon would be better. But for this land, having bullet bill riding above you every couple minutes would be incredible and save the dark ride for something more worthy.Makes me think, wouldn't Bullet Bill not be better if they used a ride system a la ET?
Yeah, even on Magic this is the case.Every person with info on the project since day 1 has said it's primarily physical. To my knowledge no one has been coy about that.
