Interesting Direct. MKW looks great, Donkey Kong looks fantastic and is something I’ve wanted for a long time. Kirby Air Ride was fun, although I don’t know what to expect since I didn’t play the original. The wheelchair game is a gamble, but looks interesting. But I can’t help but feel like a LOT of time was wasted. Like an absurd amount of time.
There was no reason they needed to spend that much time talking about games like Split Fiction that are already released. Or the 2K section, or bringing Randy Pitchford on to talk about Borderlands. Or the Hitman people.
And Deltarune was an amazing surprise, but there’s nothing about that game that will be exclusive to Switch 2, so that could’ve been a solo announcement.
By the time all the third party stuff was done and they announced Gamecube for NSO, as exciting as it was, I was just desperate for them to shut up about it and announce the first party games.
I get that it’s a huge deal that for the first time since the Gamecube Nintendo is on the same power level as the competition and can actually get current gen games, but I really thought we would see more first party announcements in the longest Direct in history.
It will be interesting to see if Nintendo can sell this console with Mario Kart World, the wheelchair game, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders and at the end of the year the new Hyrule Warriors as the only exclusives. They all look like great games, but I don’t know if they’re BOTW - MK8D - Splatoon 2 - Mario Odyssey great. Remains to be seen
