I'm kind of shocked. First, that he's already retiring when it feels like he JUST became President, and second, that he was apparently president for a full SIX YEARS?

I'm indifferent on this. I disagree with what feels like half the internet that Nintendo has "gone downhill". I think most of the arguments for that are very flawed and based on mass revisionist history. The Switch 2 will most likely have had the best first year in company history in terms of games.

Now, NOA doesn't have full control over these things, but I'm sure everybody heard the Reggie story about fighting for Wii Sports to be a pack-in. The NOA president DOES have a stake in the "vibe" of the company, and although NOA has been operating very smoothly under Bowser, it's undeniably been missing SOMETHING in terms of public image. Even if Devon just takes the time to actually show up during Directs with a smile on her face, NOA will seem more down to earth.

She also previously worked in Marketing, Business Affairs, and Publisher Relations for NOA, has a bulborb in her Linkedin profile and was directly credited for Punch Out Wii and Metroid Prime Remastered, so I'm pretty hopeful here.

I doubt this is related. While Nintendo has had its share of controversies this year, they were not exclusive to America, and I wouldn't necessarily blame them on NOA localization and marketing.

It's also worth mentioning that the "buy a Switch 1" comment has been taken horribly out of context. All he really said was that Switch 1 will still be produced for the foreseeable future, and that they plan to continue releasing games for it, making it an alternative option at a lower price point.

I agree with both of you that the hate is a bit too much right now. I guess I just thought if this seemingly big change in perception perhaps inspired a shakeup. We’re also getting Satoru Shibata as our new CEO with Devon serving as president btw. The CEO position at NoA sat vacant since Iwata passed.

Directly to @mccgavin, that was my take on it as well. All he needed to add was that Metroid Prime 4 was still coming to Switch along with Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven next year and that fans shouldn’t feel like they have to rush to the Switch 2.

I do wonder if the recent cuts to customer support was his decision.

So, I’m probably just getting Galaxy 1+2 right near launch now. I have a buyer for my Wii along with accessories and games which includes my original Galaxy copies. The money I’m making pretty much covers both this collection and Metroid Prime 4 when that comes out. Not bad for something that’s been sitting in a box in my closet for over a decade

That being said I completely understand complaints about the price. I’m also hoping Nintendo doesn’t bring this update to 3D All Stars down the road and makes me feel stupid lol.

Can't wait for the next proper new release. Unbelievably excited for Prime 4, although I wish Remastered could get a Switch 2 edition along with 2 and 3 Remasters as I've only played the first one. I love MKW and Bananza but I wish there was more to play right now. At the very least, I think the consistency we're getting new games is far better than the Switch 1. This time in that life cycle I was pretty much still just playing BOTW.

I started playing Yakuza 0. I don't have much time for it because I'm working 5 days a week and just started college, but it's FANTASTIC. It runs flawlessly on Switch 2 and looks really great for a remastered PS3 game.

I'm pissed about Persona 3 Reload. I don't know what Atlus is doing. Just absolute incompetence on their part. It's 30fps with terrible frame pacing for NO REASON. The Switch 2 can absolutely handle it at a locked 60fps at a high resolution, and probably even a locked 120fps in a separate graphics option. It's a beautiful game, but it's not THAT visually complicated.
