I'm not convinced that was ever really on the table, because a person with any familiarity with Florida's weather and the operations of trackless systems would think about it for two seconds before immediately vetoing it as extremely impractical.

But not thinking about something for two seconds before immediately vetoing it as extremely impractical is peak WDI.

I’m not sure if this is a hot take but: the Cars trilogy is good but not great, the IP has absolutely no place at Magic Kingdom and even beyond that, that this barely even connected to the films to begin with. This is moreso Galaxy’s Edge style “official fanfiction” (because that worked so well last time) and replacing Rivers of America is perhaps in the top 5 biggest sins post-Iger Disney has ever committed both from a historical and visual/sightlines/beauty perspective. This is just such a terrible project on every level

Still not sure what makes this IP "not belong at Magic Kingdom". Magic Kingdom has a million different IPs and Disneyland (which is pretty much the same thing) has even more.

Also, while Rivers of America was great, we're getting two major lands and at least four rides as a replacement. Magic Kingdom has needed this for a long time.

A lot of the IP’s Disney uses could be classified as “good, but not great” yet they take up space at Disney, some of them prime real estate! The difference is - these properties are largely built upon nostalgia imbedded into the Disney brand. Cars is phenomenal, 2 is trash, and 3 is surprisingly decent. This brand has been a mainstay at Disney (through various forms of media) and continues to hold weight with younger kids. Radiator Springs in Cali, to my knowledge, continues to draw, and Disney wouldn’t have invested in a land of that quality if it wasn’t a money mover. Same here with Piston Peak.

The fact is, this addition is going to bring significant money to the resort - far more than an outdated ferry and a treehouse ever did. At the end of the day, sorry nostalgia nerds (of which I’m one..RIP Jaws), money always wins.

Atleast they’re making a diligent effort. I swore I’d never spend the money it takes to go to Disney a long time ago. Between this, Villains, and Star Wars, they may make me change my mind

Assuming it can operate reliably with those changes in elevation and terrain, I think it has all the potential to be something really unique and fun for the park.

With a few reservations remaining, of course (how much value is that stream/water really going to provide, what are sighlines really going to be, how obvious will the googly-eyed ride vehicles be from the rest of Frontierland, etc).

Why? If there's anywhere a Pixar property like Cars belongs is MK. This isn't like they're adding Radiator Springs to Epcot World Showcase.

Out of curiosity, do you have the same venom for Villain's Land? Since that's also replacing the Rivers of America, and the concept of that land along with the main dark ride very much falls under the "Official Fanfiction" umbrella in order to bring together all the different villains and so forth.

I mean, it’s a vibes thing. I’d argue that maybe Toy Story is the only Pixar IP that fits cleanly into Magic Kingdom. Cars is just… the talking car movie from 2007 with Life is a Highway. I believe Magic Kingdom needs to be their “timeless” park with IP use being as well-thought-out and classy as possible, which this project is the exact opposite of.

I actually don’t, because I feel like that’s a perfect fit at Magic Kingdom and as Magic-Man correctly pointed out: we DO need more attractions, even if Cars is not at all how I would’ve gone about that. I just hope they actually realize the potential of the concept, which I don’t know if I trust them to but ah well

Rides can stand on their own even if the IP is terrible. This is the same park that had Splash Mountain and currently has Tron. If the land is good (and it looks incredible) we'll be just fine even if the IP choice is weird.

As for what it replaced, as a Florida native Rivers of America was never special to me. It was just more of the nature that I grew up around. Beautiful, but not unique or special. This and Villains Land will finally give this park more rides and more walking space, something that it desperately needs.

The E-ticket seems like a unique adventure. Not a coaster, not a dark ride, not a simulator. Just an outdoor adventure!

Hopefully the ride system ends up being reliable, as the thunderstorms will already hamper the ride during summer.

The flat ride seems like a great addition to a corner of the park where there isn't as much for little kids. Probably a 32" height requirement at most.
