FJ does have some parts that will be Scary for kids and besides, it'd work as a new thing for getting more people into the park.

Yeah, but overall Harry Potter is still a family property. If we see something scary for a ride, I'd rather they just make a House of Horrors themed ride.

A Universal's Classic Monsters attraction would be more popular than a Van Helsing attraction, in my opinion.

Well I have been reading and it seems that they are still analizing some options for a JP themed roller coaster, and the most exciting news? They plan to upgrade the animatronics on Jurassic Park River Adventure... Could this mean that, finally, our beloved ride could be refurbed as well?

They are analizing in IOA and it has always been in talks. If they refurb in Orlando there might be a chance for us

That idea was scrapped for the new King Kong attraction being placed in the new (though rumored) miniature Skull Island area. It's tough to say if we'll ever be getting a thorough refurbishment for JP as it's our only water ride, and closing it for a long period of time would screw the park over. You'd have lots of hot, unhappy guests with no way to cool off.

They would have to haul ass during the annual refurb to do it, and with JP so close to the backlot it's hard to do. Usually they refurb it in winter after grinchmas but it's doubtful they'll do it now that spring and high time is here.

My mom's reaction at the end of going on the Mummy for the first time yesterday: "That's it? Please tell me that's not it....you're kidding...."

Hello every one!Iv been a member of ush forums for like year now but i had to make a new account using a new name since i dont wanna get in trouble!Anyways a couple weeks ago i got to see plans from a person that works very closely with universal creator and the plans were for a possible mummy 2.0 version for ush sometime after potter opens. That being said plz be aware that universal is apparently still on the fence of weather they should upgrade the ride or not.Anyways heres what the plans included apparently all projections in the ride will be updraded to a new 4k ultra hd also in the dark ride portions of the ride they will add new ligthing as well as projections of beetles crawling all over the walls they will also use projection mapping on the mummy AA's to make it look like beetles are crawling out of them just like in the movie's.Also the neon cardboard cut outs in the coaster portion will be taken out of the ride and will be replaced by projections of mummys swinging at the riders.(FYI they wont be neon lol)Sadly the current ending of mummy is apparently here to stay for good!Anyways i would really like to know what you all think i promised not to leak this info out but i really wanted to know what you guys think about this POTENTIAL upgrade.

^If that's true, those sound like good cosmetic upgrades, but it sure would be nice to have an improved coaster portion. You know, with tighter turns and more airtime.

Also, HateToFly did say something about a Mummy update happening possibly in 2015. This does seem likely. I could see this getting bumped to 2016 to get people down to the lower lot when Potter opens.

But about the old ending supposedly staying, that sucks. I was hoping they would at least change it back.

I did not mention this since it was not part of the plan but my source says universals also talking about quite possibly replaceing mummies track with a new one and there also thinking about making new trains that slightly tilt to the left and rigth like the seven dwarfs mine train at disney world this can mean that the plan i say could change to add the new track and cars but who knows

Do you think the upcoming Mummy reboot will have an effect on what happens to the ride?

Having projections instead of cardboard outs in the coaster portion was something that I wished they would have done in the first place. I would be glad to see that part upgraded.

The treasure room sure could benefit greatly with the use of projection mapping.

Rip out that unconvincing screen in the center of the room and replace it with a stone wall and project onto that. Then have scarab beatles run up the rooms walls and treasure as you transition into the launch chamber. That right there would give the ride a "wow" moment, something that is currently missing.

As for the coaster portion, I would like to see no projections or neon cutouts, just darkness. This also helps transition the ride into the the spectacular WTF room of darkness.

I would also like to see a few small improvements in the overall theme of the ride such as painting the exit hallway and holding area after the WTF room of darkness to match the loading chamber and queue.

I remember before the ride opened Universal was saying that there would be a part of the ride where a mummy would hop on to your vehicle. But in the end that effect got cut. I would love for them to include that effect in the update.
