I was just looking at recent photos of Disneyland's future Star Wars Land. They are so far ahead of DHS. Almost all of the 14 acres has been cleared of foliage, most buildings flattened, and the dirt moved around. DHS, almost nothing touched. So easy to see how WDW is treated as the wicked stepsister of the Disney company.

Did you see the picture with the added AT AT , troopers, ect... on the construction site? OK!! How about start building and less propaganda? That's how TWDC goes over budget.... because you know that was not done at home with Windows Paint program.

Oh someone posted the link here already. Just commenting on that 360 view picture where they added many vehicles as being part of the construction crew/equipment that's all. I just don't understand the point on wasting money doing that if we won't see anything for years and years to come instead of just focusing on building the land.

Are you referring to the SW vehicles? Those were added digitally.

OK, now I see what you're referring to. That's a newer article than the Mice Chat one I looked at last week....Yes, I understand your point. Disney is a marketing propaganda machine......In contrast to that, Universal completely redid the Springfield area in Orlando with all of those fun additions, bars, quick service restaurants etc. in around 7 months and then didn't even tell anyone when they opened it. No advertising marketing whatsoever. ...Surely two different business philosophies.

It didn't cost that much for them to throw an AT-AT and some droids in there. The marketing makes up for it itself.

I mean, this is the biggest anticipated land since Potter. I think you're being a little hard on the critique.

To be fair, the Disney employee who did the artwork on those pics would have just held the job site up if he would have showed up and tried to help build something. He did what he was qualified to do. Also, he's almost certainly a salary employee, so it didn't cost Disney anything to have him make that pic.

I know it is, but I have a problem on how early they make there official announcement. Perfect example, Pandora. I know about this project for about 4yrs now and we still have 1+ year to go. Even though I'm happy to see this project happening (not because I'm a fan of the movie, but because it will be way better than what it used to be there). I know my excitement will be more towards "Finally! About damn time", than my "OMG I can't wait till tomorrow" like it happened with DA because it just took roughly 2yrs to build. Literally I saw the walls go up and I saw them go down. I visited the park almost every 2 week for a while because there was always something new to look at... progress! but now Pandora has been over shadowed by the new kid in town called SWL and that has made everyone so excited, and that's when I thought "I hope people understand that we will be done with the new trilogy, (total of 5 SW movies) by the time we will see this thing open" not only that, but the CEO who is bringing this project to life will be gone by 2018, so would the new CEO have different ideas for the land?, and would that create delays?
Sorry for the long response, I just would like for them keep things under a rumor until they are ready to take full action, that's all. I bet this D23 will talk very proudly about the new DCL ships, but you won't be able to sail on them any time before 2021. So what's the point? mention the deal briefly and move on to something more current. On 2019 go full force on those ships.

SWL should open no later than 2020, but I am thinking end of 2019. I agree the announced too soon, but at the same time I think they had too. This wasn't one ride closing, this is a large section of the park closing and I think they wanted people to know the reason and I think they wanted to give people time to ride or see these things before closing.

My understanding with Pandora is they announced way to early because they were forced too.

But you can say the same for Uni and Nintendo, but again they were forced too. So I think circumstances caused the early announcements sometimes.

LMAO well I'm definitely a fan... but not the ones that dress up for a premiere, but the kind that loves the story and hate to say I've watched all 6 movies about 100 times each... Dork? yes I know, but I just love them. Something I am not is a conformist, so it is not hate for Disney... Actually I want them to be #1 in Orlando but reality is, on the eyes of the locals they are now #2. UO ripped off that crown out of their head a while ago. So I'm just having issue with the focus and priorities of the company that's all. We all know about SWL for over 2yrs now and they just broke ground. Last year we had a art concept and sold as a 13 acres expansion but the site has been moved, putting ST in a possible chop block (don't get me started on that), the CEO of this project is leaving in 2018 (before opening), so what's the vision of the new one? maybe I just need to wait, I just don't want to get too excited and be disappointed later. I'll wait to 2018 and see where it's at.

I guess I just have to wait and not look too much on the concept art. It's nothing against the company, I want the best for this land. I criticize because I do care, and I do expect the best from Disney, but they have raised many questions lately about their true interest.

Harrison Ford called it "The Star Wars Experience" during the DL 60th special, so it's not that big of a surprise. Don't love it, don't hate it.
