I know someone rumored that Gringotts could be coming to USH I wonder where they would even place it in the lower lot.

IIRC the rumor has been around for a while. If more potter came to USH, (hopefully Ministry from EU) it would more likely be slated for the falls lake area not the lower lot.

SS 16-24 going for theme park expansion will not be until 2030 or beyond.

Sharing what I can of the element, as I have been trying to find info on it for months.

Work is going to be under way from now to Spring; it sounds like they are fortifying and shoring the hillside's infrastructure. Digging into it by 80+ feet distance wise. I don't know if it's going to be where it'll match the level that it is for the road, but it is future-proofing that area for more.

Whatever it could be, who's to say; but it does seem like exciting stuff is ahead.

Not tying to redirect the thread as I’ve clearly missed something. Can someone DM me why?

Wanted to make a quick post, didn't see a general discussion thread in my rush, so move this if needed. But....

So Universal Hollywood is hiring for a bunch of different things right now, obviously gearing up for the holiday season.

I decided to apply for "Patio Host" (which is Park Services adjacent) & "Production Assistant" (aka character escort).

Obviously, it'd be a DREAM to WORK(s) to hangout with the characters all day & also tell guests the line is closed with a smile. I'd take cleaning the dining areas, I've got restaurant busser experience anyway, so nothing new.

Yeah, this is it right here. If you compare the retaining wall behind mummy in ThemeParkHD's 2019 video for Killer Klowns1730707021249.png
Versus Sharp Productions's video for Dead Exposure
1730707098249.png
You can see that they've already attempted to reinforce the retaining wall with those metal pylons. It's not a great fix as it's a bit of an eyesore, cuts down on the width of the road back there, and the wall is still leaning so this seems like a temporary fix at best. Cutting into the hillside by about 80 feet does add about an acre, a little bit less, to the available land. I would temper expectations, though. It's good planning for the future, for sure, as the Lower Lot is due for a major expansion once the soundstages between Mummy and TF are ready to come down, but I don't think that area will be anything usable for the park (except maybe the future location of an HHN maze) for a while, probably beyond the Olympics.

I know there has been rumors and speculation on a relocation method of the Studio Tour, but I am also admittedly in soft pausing and wondering until we see the aftermath of the main work take place.

Twitter is going crazy with rumors about this, and just in general. I’ve heard “this project will make USH a multi-day park”, I’ve heard they’re considering an HP expansion with Hagrid and maybe even the train, I’ve heard they’re losing the Transformers rights and are planning on maybe replacing it with a SNW expansion 3 or so years from now. Honestly any of those things sound incredible, but I’m trying to keep expectations very very low

Yeah I don't think any of this has any basis in reality. Apex has no track record.

Yeah

Everyone knows I want more but this feels like it won’t head to much but hope I’m wrong but unless they move the tram next to mummy no idea how this could lead to it being a more then one day park

Even if they cleared the area and added DK and another Nintendoland that would be amazing but you would just be replacing mummy and transformers leading to basically the same amount to do right now

So unless this helps in making it where falls lake can be used for theme parks just not sure how it would expand the park enough to make it a two day park

Universal themselves probably have no idea yet as to what park expansion will take over SS 16-24.

I missed this thread and came back thinking I missed some incredible stuff, only to find it was a whole lot of nothing lol

I don’t see any substantial rumors start about park expansion until EU opens. I think they are waiting to see how reception for the park does before they go forward with any future plans for this park.

Waiting on the coaster?

I think SNW gave them the clearest picture....you build something like that you get booming crowds for 1.5 years

You don't and the crowds will just come in waves based on school's being off.

I will be interested to see the Grinchmas crowds because HHN was the lightest in years and Disneyland is BOOMING right now from the Holidays...so if Grinchmas is light then they need to invest more in keeping the park exciting or if they are fine with just investing the same each year and getting random returns then go for it

I mean, I don’t wanna have a semantics debate, but Paris is the tourist destination, and the Eiffel Tour is part of the itinerary. Los Angeles is the tourist destination; the Studio Tour (USH) is a part of the itinerary.

Orlando is not a tourist destination; Walt Disney World is. Anaheim is not a tourist destination; Disneyland is. That’s the difference. People are visiting specifically for the parks.

It’s not splitting hairs, for the reasons I stated above. I never denied USH gets a lot of tourists, and that many of them travel a long way to go. My point is about scope, and you kinda proved my point when you said the park would love to become a destination that requires more than two days at the absolute max — it would love to become a tourist destination in and of itself. It’s not there yet. It might not ever be.

Moving this to here so that way the USH general talk doesn't dillute Wicked's--but I think the answer is complicated.

USH by and large now, is predomimently a tourist park. Always has been, but I think my argument is that there was a time where USH stroke a balancing act between being both a tourist park, and a locals park. The key, was in how USH intermixed that of nightlife entertainment and theme park entertainment, alongside the investments to evolve the park further.

And while we had losses like the Gibson/Universal to accomodate that of USH's growth and evolution, we had nightlife with the like of Infusion and of the support from seasonal content that varied from Grinchmas predomimently and HHN (ontop of Lunar New Year). But as we reduced our scope of entertainment, and reduced the scope of nightlife to be just the AMC, we lost what is the local attention in the favorance of appealing towards that of tourists appeal.

The only way we'll see growth and change, is when they do the hotel. Because from that point onward, the USH Hotel will force Universal to compensate and have their hand in bringing back nightlife and nightttime entertainment to allow hotel guests options beyond the park itself. I kind of call it a Schrodinger's Tourist Destination in a way, that won't be settled until then.

And we are starting to slowly get back to theme park entertainment of seasonal offerings to be increased. With Fan Fest Nights, it finally bridges a gap that fills a good pocket of time that has been usually left empty (as most of their attractions either open in February-April or June-July). But they still need more to compensate, especially for the loss of daily entertainment with the removal of Animal Actors and Special Effects Stage to make way for Fast.

I'm hoping when we get to USH's next project, that somewhere in the plan is a move to get a daily entertainment offering back to form. Because that is genuinely one of the biggest holes we will have after Fast and after the hotel.

I think people forget kinda how ghetto Citywalk was before the clubs starts shutting down. I got into a couple fights there myself in my teenage years lol.

But I think times have changed and the area probably wouldn’t suffer the same fate anymore.

And that's why I think a hotel would help the prospect of nightlife, because odds are they'd have to completely redo the security to ensure hotel safety is at the forefront with the proximity of the park.

Having that ability to get ahead of the curve before you enter the property could be a boon that forces Universal to bring in more entertainment and nightlife options; because it will be an investment of the GP's time to stay for x amount of time. Escapology is a great start, but we need more options than that.

Do we know for sure what year Universal is legally required to close Simpson’s? And do we expect them to start work on the replacement before the exact deadline?

Sidenote, walked through Paris today for the first time in awhile. Definitely primed for some sort of expansion, addition or overhaul, as cool as it is.
