I still think more Potter in our tiny multi-level park would be incredibly stupid. Yes, I'm Universal Monsters biased, but it'd something different.

I'm curious how they implement the term "expansion" when most of the current work is just replacing/adding to existing areas, but not actually expanding the interior park footprint.

Love the park, but the current state of the park doesn't exactly give me faith in an actual plan.

Some time you take what you can get with a landlocked park like USH. A new land on the lower lot replacing SS 16-24 and Mummy would help a bit with the congestion that can take place there.

So, and not to pull the old thing with the cart and the horse and the incorrect order… when are we getting Dark Universe in the birthplace of the monsters? :no_mouth:

Realistically speaking, if it does come, probably not till the early to mid 2030s. That's a big IF. 2031 would be a great year to do it to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the OG Dracula and Frankenstein films.

Watching the Preshows, looking at the videos and the photos; there in and of itself lies a true artistic desire with what UC did with Dark Universe; to a way that makes me want this in Hollywood so bad.

Talking to friends and colleagues about the ride experience of The Frankenstein Experiment; the more I feel like we could actually have it and Forbidden Journey offer two different ride experiences that complement and are unique enough from eachother (to a point of where it wouldn't be out of place if both were in the same place). I'd also say it might give us a opportunity to have a second major show with the park, if Universal was to say, bring the original concept of a Wolfman Stunt Show to our version as opposed of the Mack-Rides Spinning Coaster.

Genuinely hoping Dark Universe shines and succeeds this summer. It looks like an absolute slam dunk that finally gives their most iconic IP justice.

Guys, respectfully… I wouldn’t count on it. I’d love it over here, but there are so many reasons why it probably won’t.

If Universal did bring a variant of Dark Universe over to USH, an idea that just popped into my mind is to do a monsters ride that uses the Battle of the Ministry ride system.

I believe there was a video shared on the forums of a tour guide stating that there is some sort of ongoing five year plan for USH. Using some guesswork here is my timeline on the things in the pipeline as of now:

2026- Hollywood drift debuts alongside whatever overlay they decide for Supercharged.

2027- New Shrek show for the DWT.

2028- Simpsons replacement comes online.

2029- coming off of LA 2028, might be an off year

2030-2031-lower lot expansion replacing SS 16-24 and Mummy

NO! No more "off years". USH has seen way too many, especially post-Nintendo.

While I disagree with @Clive on Dark Universe not being feasible (I genuinely think we deserve more than Mummy), this is too optimistic.

When Simpsons goes (which I expect in Early 2027 for ours due to the infrastructural level being much greater than that of Orlando’s), it’s gonna take a bit to systematically tear down the main Simpsons Ride showbuilding, partially reroute the trash compactor and ADA Shuttle, and regrade that of the hillside as a result of the size of the area.

Simpsons in general should take longer than Orlando’s due to the much more extensive detheming that will need to take play with our version compared to Orlando. And I don’t think it’ll be ready by the Olympics for whatever the replacement is.

I also don’t have optimism that DreamWorks Theater will get a new film unless if it was coordinated with the studio alongside development of a product. If they’re smart, they do it for Shrek; but I doubt it.

The main focus for the rest of the decade should be on the Studio Tour, preparing and working on the Springfield replacement, and getting the hotel done by the LA2028 Summer Olympics (and of course as I harp on—the prioritization to making the soon to be bubble a reason to stay within it). That to me is the realistic take (alongside investing more into seasonal events with HHN, FFN, Holidays, and hopefully one more event for the Early portion of the calendar year).

Maybe they'll get crazy & close Simpsons next year once Hollywood Drift is open. The sooner the better..

FastFoodBlvd should be a quick turnaround. All they gotta really do is change the menu & retheme it. I could see them tackling this next year. I can't imagine Hollywood Drift opening without acquiring the Duff Gardens area into its "themed" territory

I feel like the detheming process of the main FFB structure is going to take a bit longer than that (though granted my expectation is a 8-10 month job due to the theming outside and inside). Depending on the retheme job, that could dial in and grow further and go past the year mark (depending on what they do).

The Luigi’s/Duff area in comparison should be relatively quick but I don’t expect the detheming and detheming efforts to begin until 2027 at the earliest. I am expecting a 2.5/3.2 year job with Springfield due to the amount of infrastructural work being likely on par with that of Hollywood Drift. Even if it isn’t as large in scope, it’s going to be just as crucial as HD for the long term than the short term. I’d love to be wrong with that too.

I'm pretty sure USH management wants a new attraction in the park they can market for LA2028 and the Simpsons replacement seems to be the only logical one at that.

They don’t need a new attraction to bring people to the park in 2028. Unironically, they will get more of a buzz on promoting the fact that the lot is the main Media Village for anything and everything relating to the LA2028 Summer Olympics; and I think that might be enough for them.

It’s not what I want either, but I think it makes sense that for all it’s worth; that 2028 is an off year that lets the studio shine. Only thing I can see happen is maybe a new Studio Tour plaza, but I think that wouldn’t exactly be a “New” experience like a new ride.

To be fair, being at Universal is the last place any of us will want to be during the Olympics. Best to hide inside until it clears out lol

After the rollercoaster, I wonder what’s next. Also all this talk about falls lake being demolished is crazy talk. I wouldn’t see that happening
