Wow I'm surprised he got away with that Showgirls reference.

David is truly great, one that you'd always be lucky to get.

I've been on the tour twice and we didn't go through the courthouse square. Any reason why or is it just filming?

^ yeah, most likely just filming or something that had to do with production.

Couple of things for you all (yes I am an insider):

1. Fast and Furious is closed because the current producers went on a tour did not want their brand associated with the animation and it will not be back.

2. The new 3d F&F will be begin construction this Fall on the site of the Mummy's Tomb which will be demolished to make way - new F&F to open Summer 2014.

3. Spartacus Square sets have been condemned as a hazard and will likely be demolished soon. Just too old and rotted to be saved.

4. Also on the demolition list of phase 2 Phoenix Project will be the six points sets and Denver Street, once again too old and rotted.

5. Look for the Plane crash to go to make way for another soundstage.

More to come.

Was just watching an 80s show shot all over the Universal Lot...how much is gone, not by fire but by demolition.  How sad to see it all go.  Universal has a 100 year history and should make an effort to keep the memorable parts like square of warriors.

Too late... when I was there a couple months ago they had several dumpsters full of Square of Warriors set pieces. Dumpsters have claimed so many of the iconic studio sets and props, including the ORCA from JAWS which literally fell apart from neglect when they finally tried to pull it out in attempt to fix it up.

I just realized that Universal has to change the studio tour because Jimmy Fallon is taking over the tonight show.

Yup, it is time for a new host.  This change happens every few years.

Glad to see this one go. How about Kenneth the NBC page on 30 rock. That would be the greatest. LOL

i think it would awesome if they just have Spielberg be the host. He can talk about all the history on the lot since he knows most, if all of it. Not to mention he created some of it as well

I've always felt Spielberg is the most deserving. Less "comedy" and more information.

I really miss that Ron Howard introduction and closer. I wonder if it's still available to play on the Studio Tour console.

Jimmy is a talented individual no doubt about it, but his brand of comedy just wears thin for me. He always seems to be uncomfortable on camera.

Conan and Ron Howard were better than Fallon IMO. Having Spielberg do the tour would be a dream come true.

I'd kill to see a version of Conan as the host. His Tonight Show episodes featuring the studio and studio tour are what really made me a fan of his.

Looks like Jaws will be undergoing a rather deep refurbishment as they look to replace the tilting platform with a cement road.

It'd be nice if they can maybe add a few other new effects or...something while it's down. Not much you can add though lol.

Nope.  Possibly change Bruce, this one was needing some attention the last few weeks.

I always wished they had some barrels fall over on the pier to help sell the fire effect. They did it in Backdraft, its not hard to do.  Plus you can fill them with water and they can splash toward the tram.  Make it more interactive since you are removing the leaning effect!

Yeah, more stuff moving or exploding or more physical effects would be nice. Just...more "in your face" stuff.

I heard a rumor they are going to add a water effect that squirts out of Bruce's mouth as he comes by to say hello which unsuspectingly splashes all the guests ;)
