Yeah. It is surrounded by rather lackluster competition. A newer ride system of the bunch, that just went down for half a year should be blowing everything out of the water.

To be fair, though, it has been pretty thoroughly established that EPCOT is not a "thrill" park. Test Track, Mission SPACE and SOARIN have all been attempts at renewing interest with the younger crowd in this aging property.

Honestly, they don't need to sell me with thrill rides. I'm good with drink around the world and lots of crazy international cuisine.

It could be the most impressive from a technological standpoint and on ride aesthetics, but imo, nothing in Future World still is a better ride experience than Spaceship Earth, and I HIGHLY doubt that will change when TT opens.

The problem with Future World in it's current state (beyond the obvious lack of additions and letting Pavilions become convention space) is that it's a mixed bag of different ride systems, many of which are impressive (TT, M:S, Soarin, etc.), but the problem has a lot to do with lack of attractions throughout future world and lack of vision. All of those rides I mentioned have, at the time of opening, new ride systems, but it's all wasted as these things are not updated as they should be (Soarin') or the ride had a so-so reception (M:S).

TT was a first gen of it's ride system and the ride system has since advanced. Despite this refurb, placing RSR over at DHS will make TT look silly. Same goes with a Soarin-esque Pandora ride. Things like that automatically make the other look bad in comparison. Epcot needs to do something quick. Either something completely new, or a refurb to Imagination or Energy would help. Imagination needs a full pavilion makeover, meaning EO needs to go. And any new version of the ride should involve a trackless system, or it's almost not even worth it. It's the perfect ride to do it with.

To add on to that, it should be interesting to see what happens with M:S seeing as the 10 year contract expires next year I believe. I'm rooting for Disney to ditch Hewlett-Packard and get SpaceX to sponsor the damn thing and hopefully get a true space pavilion.

Well that's a good thing. Because that's all the park is going to get in the foreseeable future.:bang:

EPCOT has become a joke, IMO. The only reason it's still third in WDW is because DAK has nothing to do.

Third as in third best in quality.

And the only reason EPCOT isn't dead last in attendance within WDW is because of Food and Wine.

World Showcase is what makes Epcot keep the attendance they currently have, people don't really come for the rides...but personally I still love Epcot, still my fave park on property, just wish there were more rides

Like USF, Epcot has much more of an actual "park" feel about it. It's a nice park to stroll through and take it easy, which is how I feel about USF. Obviously USF has a huge advantage ride-wise, but you get what i'm saying.

I agree with both of you. Sometimes I like to get a snack and just walk around the World Showcase and look at the scenery. Also, hit Club Cool a few times as well!

For $90 a day, I need more than a place to walk and eat.

And it offers that. That is the whole point about having any attractions at all and updating their older ones.

Hearing exterior work is quickly winding up. Could we see this open next week for TDay crowds?

Merf (epcyclopedia) says CMs are scheduled to start working the attraction on 11/17 and it will handed over to Ops on the 21st.

Which means that guests PROBABLY shouldn't experience it until sometime in December. It (usually, for the bigger attractions) takes ops cast about a week to be fully trained at the attraction. Although I'd assume Test Track will be taking a lot of their full-time cast back from where they've been re-cast, they'd probably still have to go over any changes to the operating guide, and depending on how many changes there are, yeah it could take a week.

The ride started cycling earlier tonight and was making full speed passes at 9:30PM this evening.

I'd imagine it'd be soft open, if not fully open by Christmas.
