Went on FJ today, this ride needs the new projectors ASAP. The final dome I was in had black spots in it and the prior two domes looked a bit murky.

How big were these black spots? The cameras that monitor riders are located in the center of the screen. Maybe it was vomit chunks?

But regardless, I agree. The quidditch scene projects seem to be the only ones close to resembling HD.

They were small to medium-ish. The biggest one was southeast about halfway from the center IIRC.

There are a lot more today. I could only imagine the display will grow tenfold when the Celebration happens.

That's a very lovely tribute. Has anyone put anything by the Snape photo in the Gringotts queue or would it be too hard with team members literally right there?

Are those real candles? I can't imagine those would be allowed.

They aren't. I would assume security wouldn't let people bring in candles.

This is kind of irrelevant, but Universal permenantly discontinued Forbiden Journey's "Castle tour" queue the other day. Hopefully we might see an Express Pass lane?

The castle tour is the express lane. Since express wasn't used the first few years when the ride became popular they simply used that line to let guests see the castle without a wait.

Hogwarts Express and Gringotts also have unused express lines waiting for use.

Really?! I never knew it used to have express... I hope they're bringing it back.

The ride never had express, just a line build for it.

I'm confused, was it built for actual Express Pass or for those flimsy yellow passes you get after you get stuck on a ride?

I think I made a very comprehensive post explaining this a while back. Anyone want to find it?

Any new word on when the 3D conversion will be? How long should it take? And will they do a ride refurb at the same time? Hopefully they'll put the hands back on the dementors since Hollywood has them. I guess Warner changed their minds about objecting to them,

It was built for express but never implemented because it'd increase waits for everyone as a brand new ride. As the rides popularity has evened out and diagon alley has opened I see them implementing express.

I don't like fastpass and express in general and have always applauded Universal for being brave enough to not use it on their most popular rides.

That said I thought the hangup was the locker situation? Will express effectively monopolize the lockers or will they keep a single line up to the lockers and separate after?

I would think you separate after the lockers like on MIB

Well every other ride besides potter has express so it's not like their other most popular rides don't have it.

I imagine it'll be a single line to the lockers then express after that.

I often wonder, is there any chance of the lockers being completely redone?

I am also hoping that Dragon Challenge will get a bit of a makeover and has new lockers installed, since those are the worst.

My rough guess is because of Kong about to take some of the crowds and Forbidden Journey quieter than it was in the insane years, they can afford to allow it.

Two things:

Hollywood's Forbidden Journey has been running with Gate A (our equivalent of Express) without much issue thus far. The merge happens post locker queue, for better or worse. We thus have no castle tour, but an unexpected benefit is the line inside the castle moves noticeably slower. This allows you to hear everything the characters have to say in each room.

The Dementors hands weren't the issue, approval-wise: a glitch during programming knocked them off a rogue Dementor (contact with an RV), prompting them to remove the others. Either it was deemed a safety concern at the time and isn't now, or they didn't want to/couldn't afford constructing new hands. The issue has always been thew "wall" of dementors before and after the "kiss."
