Reportedly, there were several extra Dementors (various sizes for forced perspective, to show waves of them) coming out from above, and into the ride track. The issue I heard was that the spacing between the vehicles was too tight to allow the effect to work and still get a good hourly capacity. But that's just what I've heard.

I was told by several sources the effect was scrapped and turned off due to it being to intense and WB's not approving.

Must have been a sight! I bet it was pretty creepy with not many vehicles cycling through.

This is by far the best on ride vid I have seen, my little cousins who have never been (and most likely never will) loved watching it and are now pestering there mum to take them . Waits for the tears as they get told no again :mean: and I get ear ache for encouraging them :sneaky:,hey thats what Uncles are for, right :look:
Thanks for posting:thumbs:

Interesting to learn of the redundant Dementors too.

So the Willow scene was made significantly darker after testing?

The willow was made less than what was planned due to exorbitant bids. Too, it is my belief that they encountered more light spill between the scenes and the screens. While the willow is not conjecture, the lighting is on my part. Some scenes look far superior with the work lights on.

Anyone know if the KUKA ride vehicle has been reprogrammed since the ride opened to the public? Any slight modifications to make it either more refined or more bland (like to accommodate more sensitive/larger riders)?

Just curious.

Also, last time I rode the attraction the goodbye scene was cut short and our ride entered onto a spur where we were the only vehicle there. What I assume is a maintenance/ADA spur? Had to take two elevators to get over to Filtch's. Any insight if this occurs a lot? No one in the vehicle needed ADA.

It's the ADA spur, yes. It wasn't for anyone in your vehicle, it was so they could load ADA passengers into it. I was randomly put with an ADA group one time and got loaded/unloaded there before. It's really amazing how its done.

That happened to my girlfriend as she rode seperate from me when we did Single rider, I was so jealous, because I want to go into the "special" load & unload area too, as well as experience a break down & go through with the work lights on!

There really wasn't anything special to it. It is dressed up like the regular station, I was single rider and knew, but the other 3 didn't figure out that something was off until we were getting on the 2nd elevator. The only thing uncanny about it is that the ride vehicle comes to a stop, rather than creeping. I figured it was for ADA/maintenance/cleanup, etc., I just didn't know how common it was. After so many rides, it was the first time for me.

I really am curious if they have changed the movement profile on the KUKAs, for whatever reason, the larger riders, bad timing, etc.

They certainly haven't toned it down.

Check out this new night vision POV of the FJ ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAND5WpH1_w

Definitely the best ride video yet, good view of the forbidden forest and dementor/chamber of secret scenes. Possibly some of those extra dementors visible on the ceiling at 3:45!

I have heard that they are working on the ride vehicle programming to make them less "floaty" to help avoid the motion sickness. Not really toned down just with more deliberate motions. But as far as I know that has only been done "after hours".

but that's the whole point though the spell Hermione casts at the beginning is to make you float...

Thanks a lot DH! I figured at some time a profile 2.0 would show up, just didn't know if it was still to come.

the ride has been 'toned down'? If anything, it should be more darting... like a witch on a broomstick, changing direction like a bat. It is the floaty that makes it so horrid, so like a boat in tranquil seas.

To be fair, I didn't even notice until a TM said something to me about it. I think only the people who constantly got sick on it in 2010 would notice.
