I remember seeing that picture that Allen just posted back when the first Wizarding World opened and was blown away by how massive that line was. Do we think we'll see a turnout like that as well?

So I'm hearing MLK weekend next month for soft openings.  Does that sound about right?

I doubt it'll be THAT big, since that was for the first incarnation of the land and a ton of blessed Potter fans from around the world made the holy pilgrimage. But ours will most likely be massive as well, probably the largest in the history of USH.

I'm hearing that AP Previews are a possibility apparently. Hard to believe, but I think that might be smart. Have a large portion of casual AP fans come for soft opening and previews to maybe divert them from the grand opening craziness.

AP previews would be awesome. And I definitely agree that it would help to deter some of them from showing up on opening day.

Speaking of annual passes, which annual pass should I get. I can't decide between the gold or the CA resident plus pass. I live just 5-10 minutes from USH and definitely going to visit a lot more since Harry Potter. I am leaning towards the CA Resident Plus pass because I definitely won't go on the super busy days. If you are getting a new AP this year, which one and why. Thanks  ;)

Wait,.. you mean I missed out on fan site vs fan site while at work? Damn... stupid job.

I'd say get the CA Resident pass first.. and then upgrade it if you feel like you want to go more days. The lack of weekends suck, but hopefully the park hours will change for the weekdays and instead of closing at 5pm like they currently do, it'll close at like 8 or 9 instead. It really just depends on how often you're going to want to go. The thought of summer crowds & CA heat... yea, not very enticing lol..

Buy the lowest tier first. Then if you find yourself visiting on a day where your AP is blocked, upgrade to the next tier up.

Hey...little cheat for you guys: all annual passes are blocked out on the grand opening date as far as I can tell. First visit, though, is valid during a black out date. If you're getting a new pass soon and don't NEED to visit USH between now and April, and want to attend the grand opening, save THAT as your first date!

Allen: if WWoHP is open during HHN, which is very, very possible, that would be your time to go to Ollivander's. In USF during HHN, Diagon Alley was minimally crowded and there were numerous PERSONAL Ollivanders shows available.

Oh, and of course it's at night. Chills.

Edit re the lighting ceremony: Parkscope is quickly debunking this possibility/idea, which is not a surprise. It's a novel idea to play around with, but ultimately it'd be very difficult to pull off considering everything.

Hey just your neighborhood friendly Parkscope. I like the idea but it's not in the cards. The land is based on the updated USJ area which itself uses the same shows and systems from IOA. If a lighting show was coming to USH wed hear about it before, similar to 3D being an opening day addition to FJ.

Also the show would be a logistical nightmare.

I do think the ad is more hinting towards the use of interactive wands themselves, which of course did not exist when the original WWoHP opened in IOA back in 2010. I didn't 'explore' the interactive portions of Hogsmeade/DA when I was there because I just didn't feel like creepily hanging around people trying to figure out wand movements, but is there a "lumos" interactive element that illuminates something within the land?

The only Lumos spells are in Olivanders show and in Diagon Alley (the large window full of chandeliers near the restrooms).

I'm actually curious on what additional interactive wand elements our Hogsmead would have. USO has two lands to play with so I feel like our Hogsmead would need a bit more to justify Interactive Wands. So many places where they can add new interactive stuff like the additional buildings in-between Shrek 4D and the Owl post.

I'm pretty sure we're getting the activated water fountain for one.

On the USA Today article, it mentions this:

"The Hollywood location will feature the unique Town Wall which has a series of storefront windows that come to life with proper wizarding commands — including Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop and Ceridwen's Cauldrons."

I feel silly but what exactly is a "town wall" and why is it called that way? I get that it is referencing interactive store windows but the first part of that is confusing me.

It means that there's a unique false storefront not featured in IOA's Hogsmeade. I believe it's located around where Dragon Challenge's entrance is over there.

I got that, as was announced before, but that specific choice of words (Town Wall) sounds odd to me. Haha

I think it's such a cool little connection between Hollywood and Orlando that you can use your interactive wand on both coasts. :)

Glad to finally get official confirmation! Time to dust off the wand box.
