Hey have some sensitivity around this time of year will you!? You know what I miss?... I MISS THE JAWS RIDE!  This past Saturday marked the 4th anniversary of when word of Amity 6's little fish episode got out putting an end to Captain Jake's & all of the other businesses on the island...

okay now back to our regularly scheduled West Coast Potter Watch.

(side note: wouldn't it be great if the Frog Choir did their rehearsals during the day so those waiting in the queue for Shrek could listen?)

Just a bit jarring going from Springfield to Hogsmeade but I'll deal with it.

Hogsmeade_010916_1.jpg

I really like the curve in this wall.  Squared off probably would have been cheaper but this has a much better flow to it.

Hogsmeade_010916_2.jpg

There better be a reason why these awning don't connect otherwise it's going to nag at me.

So close!  Even the tables and chairs are out.

That giant yellow office building with reflective windows is so disappointing.  Really distracts from the theme and scale of Hogsmeade.  Plus, why don't I have a job where I can look out the window at Hogsmeade?

View from studio tour exit path.  That gray wall is gone.

Those awnings for Three Broomsticks bother me so much. They don't match anything at all. Atleast should age them to make them somewhat more cohesive with everything else.

That's how the awnings are in Orlando as well. So if they aren't aged over there I doubt ours will be, unfortunately.

It's too early for that. Mid-feb we'll be seeing campers galore.

Campers = The theme park nerds who sit around near whatever new attraction could soft open at any moment.... they will spend the entire day sitting & waiting, even though the attraction attendents tell them there will be no soft opening that day (when in actuality, they have no idea & could get word to let people in at any time). I witnessed it for Transformers & DA in Orlando.

You're assuming that those people actually do their research. Once the bad weather eases up in CA I'm assuming that they'll start slowly appearing.

Maybe campers are the reason USH removed any kind of parking pass? Haha

These photos are a bit outdated (and by outdated I mean by 3 weeks), but I thought I'd post them anyway:

Would the employee preview happen before the land begins to soft open to the public? Or does it not matter?

I don't think that they need to have a team member preview before the soft..... Bc I went on Transformers a good month before opening and I don't think that they had already done previews......

Also since the stores are getting dressed today, would you guys think that this means a definite opening on MLK which is in a little less than a week??

My girlfriend is an employee within the land and they won't start training inside the land until a couple days from now. Her managers haven't mentioned specifics about soft openings yet, but they did mention it will NOT be within January like we all were hoping for :/

It's looking more and more likely that they will soft when all of the season passes expire. What a n00b move on Universal if that happens.

I bought my Costco season pass already and am just waiting to use it for the first time.... I know that opening day for potter is blocked out so I wanted to use my first time on that day... But also if there's a soft, I wanna break it in and use it but I would be blocked out for opening day..... The struggle is real at the moment

As I mentioned last week the Frog Choir will be starting rehearsals soon, probably around the same time the employees move into the land.

As great as it would be to say I was at the grand opening for Potter here, I don't really want to deal with the madness that will be the crowds that day. Since my bday is that following Saturday (april 9th), I might just go on my bday & do the VIP tour ticket option that day as my bday celebration.

I am hearing February as well.  Usually there will be an employee preview the day before soft opening to the public.  I can imagine this will be a social media explosion once that happens and "campers" will not have to wait long.

I am going to guess no earlier than February 4.  We should have at least a week notice for employee preview date.
