I think we owe Jerrod an apology. I had a small bag and one souvenir from SNW and I had to really cough up $5 to pay for a medium locker at FJ! It didn’t fit at all in their new small ones. Such a shame!

it’s an automatic extra 5$ every ride if you have any popcorn bucket on FJ now. Kinda sounds crazy. But they do offer all day lockers too which are like 8$

FJ was operating fine today, except the dementor-filled finale. It wasn't as well lit & didn't seem to get the full swarm attack

Dragon breathed fog blasts & the spiders squirted...

So I just wanna kind of pick everyone’s brains on this because it feels like an eventuality that’ll need to be addressed. The MoM ride at Epic really got me thinking even more about it of late in light of the recent suggestions that the TV series that WB is creating is going to maintain a lot of the visual iconography of the films.

In ten years down the line, when the series is over (or at least in its home stretch) and if it’s popular (which I’m sure it will be despite the naysayers), would we expect all the Wizarding World lands to be scrubbed of their film connections and updated with elements of the TV series, IE new ride footage with the new cast and little things like replacing Oldman and Branagh in Sirius’ poster or Lockhart’s book(s)?

WB is really banking on this series to be their overall reset of the Wizarding World as a franchise, so this new version of it could theoretically go on and expand for decades, and I can only imagine that, at a point, if it really takes the world by storm, they’re gonna start eyeballing pushing the new kids/faces of the franchise into the theme park spotlight.

Obviously the versions of what we’ve got are here to stay for a long while, which I’m happy with, but it’s just curious to think about in terms of the big picture and whether or not Warner Bros. would want to keep relying on the nostalgia of the franchise when the OG Orlando version hits its 25-year mark or go full steam ahead on committing to their new era of the franchise. It’s one thing for, say, Disney to push characters like Rey and Mando in the parks and leave the old guard (mostly) behind because Star Wars goes on and on, but it’s a whole other beast to see a franchise like this that lasted so long be getting a complete reset, especially so “soon,” and I’d love to be privy to what executives are thinking for the long run.

Highly highly doubt we see a "re-do" of all the WW stuff with the HBO series. That sounds like something Disney would do. I'm actually excited for the series, but the films have proven to be timeless and it would just be lame and a waste of time and effort to try and fix something that isn't broken.

Thank God Universal isn’t Disney because this is exactly what Disney would have done.

I think they will keep it the same. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Also going back to the Star Wars argument: basing the land on the sequel trilogy was a massive mistake IMO. Imagine how much better Rise would be if they had the OT characters and Falcon if it had Han Solo.

Agree to disagree lol. I love Rise as it is. I don't think having the characters from the OT would change the quality of that ride.

I understand where you’re coming from but agree to disagree lol. I do truly think Rise would be 10x better if you put in the OT characters.

Poe should’ve been swapped for Luke. Back for Ackbar. Kylo for Vader. His for Tarken. Flynn for Solo. Rey for Leia. It WOULD be much better.

really depends how well liked the show is, the movies are universally acclaimed and beloved,
it was perfectly cast, perfectly edited, it has the perfect music,
the show will definitely be popular for sure, but TV shows aren't always as grand as movies are, and you have this huge giant nostalgia for the movies that the show doesn't really have,

plus people today are more cynical, the movies captured a more innocent audience.

it depends, the fantastic beasts movies weren't really that well received, not like the original movies, and this point is correct:

regardless of whether or not you like the new Disney characters, in some ways these new star wars characters aren't as epic as the originals, don't have as much nostalgia and these Disney movies have had some problems.

I know that these newer movies have a lot of fans, but as far as popular culture goes the characters aren't as epic or even as recognizable as the originals ( not the fault of the actors) I never thought that kylo ren was s good villain or even that memorable. for example. Poe is cool and he's nice, but not as memorable. ( I know, personal opinion)
the new characters are cool to watch, but I don't own any merch of them, but I will have a han solo toy for example. or luke or Vader.

with potter it will be tricky, the show has to be better than the movies ( I know it sounds unfair) and the new a toes have to captivate the audience more than the movies,

I'm sure they will wanna do rides or experiences, but it's gonna be tricky..

But that's just your guys opinions tho. I really love the sequel Trilogy characters so for me I'm glad we got them in the ride over the OT characters.

I recognize this is partially my fault for the second time today, and you're all welcome to egg me for it, but let's get back to the Harry Potter discussion.

I'll reply to saint but keeping it to Harry Potter,

something new is better, and leave the original ride as it is,

yeah you could love the new tv show, it might be amazing, but it might not have the cultural impact that the original had and the nostalgia and the cultural significance. it could backfire

I'm not saying that the show won't be great, but to change the stuff in the parks from something universally beloved can be tricky. specially if the new addition is not as good,

we have to start from the point that it would take a year or more to see what kind of cultural impact the show has, and changing the ride stuff will take time

and even if the impact of the show is huge,is it big enough to remove the original stuff from the parks? ( the new star wars movies was huge, but most people don't remember much of it)

personally I hope they wouldn't touch the potter stuff from the originals, if the show is a huge giant success then something new could be done. a new experience from the show or something.

One consideration is that the series won't even start til 2026, and, I believe, is running for 7 years. By the time its done in 2033?, FJ and the OG land will be 23 years old. The first movie will be 32 years old. It very well might be worth it to change up the stuff at the parks. There's bound to be new scenes in the show that we never saw in the movies that would be draws.

Of course that depends on having the right cast and the series actually being good.

are the 7 years guaranteed regardless of ratings or quality or viewership? kinda like the Lord of the rings? ( Lord of the rings has to do 5 seasons regardless right?)

No idea. I'd assume theres an out clause if it bombs, but as this isn't like a movie where people pay for it directly, I don't know there's as big of a risk of it failing.

I did come across a recent article though that suggests they are planning 10 years, not 7. Lots of interesting info here.

I've been watching the Fast & Furious coaster building going up -- and it looks, great, can't wait! But having that contemporary brick building and zooming car right across from the entrance to Hogsmeade seems suboptimal. Which got me thinking...

It could be an exciting enhancement if they transformed the Kung Fu Panda DreamWorks Theater (I'm sorry, that show is really weak for me) into an old fashioned Fantasyland omnimover or trackless style dark ride based on the Shrieking Shack in Hogsmeade. Kind of USH's version of a Haunted Mansion....maybe with interactive wand effects on the ride?

And in doing this, they'd reclaim that entrance courtyard to the DreamWorks Theater and put the entrance to Hogsmeade there...away from the Fast & Furious hubbub. It would be a more gradual, mysterious forested entry to the land, which I think would serve the transition/immersion better.

Here's a picture of the area for reference, plus an image edited version to show the idea.

Unnecessary. And they'd never "relocate" the Hogsmeade entrance. Ever. It is literally designed a specific way to see Hogwarts at the end of the street (like at Disney with main street).

DreamWorks Theatre is a flex space. It is also the ONLY indoor show venue the park has left.

Hollywood Drift is in the "Muggle World". It's fine. Just pretend the blue car of the train is the one Ron/Harry "fly"/crash.

Anyone what’s going on with the first two death eaters dementors on FJ? They’ve been shut down since HHN! They gonna fix them?
