As I explained above, they are closing it for a tax write off. How do I know? It's not a secret. I have friends who work there. I forgot I was on OU. :) Typically these forums are more interested in thinking what you each would like to think rather than knowing the truth. Speak on young friends :)

Oh my apologies. I had no idea you knew people who worked there. I'll say hi when I'm getting my popcorn bucket refilled

As we've learned again and again, TM's don't know everything 100%. They don't know the inner workings of Uni's future at all. For example, my Uncle knows the cousin of a CM at Disney, who has convinced him that Disney is going to buy IOA from Uni next year.

Uni closing an attraction I can understand, but that's just crazy :inquisitive:

I don't think this is going anywhere.

--- Update ---

a park wouldn't invest money in something to have it open then close.

I don't think he is disagreeing with your law facts, but rather Universal closing the attraction. How do you know it's closing? Why and for what?

Yes, I was disagreeing about the closure of the attraction, not about the taxes. Sorry for the misunderstanding, as I may have quoted the wrong post.

OK, I will start by saying that i have heard nothing concerning TE, but I do find Universal's behavior concerning this attraction VERY odd. It is obvious that they are interested in working on the attraction without any real interest in actually opening it. They have been sort of hacking at it without any real commitment.

Soooo, the rumor of opening it to close it sort of makes sense. What that tells me is that Uni would be willing to invest a small amout to get a larger tax write off. And closing it gives JP available space for something to tie in with JP4. And since JP4 is a ways off there is little pressure of a tight timeframe.

I've cleaned up a large portion of the name calling/insulting. There's absolutely no need for it and if it continues on, bans will be served. You can debate without getting to the point of name calling.

Back on topic.

To follow up, just because you are "in the know", doesn't give you the right to flaunt it. C'mon guys. Keep it peaceful, and just watch how your posts may come across.

So what is the ultimate plan for this area? Are they just giving up on the giant robot trikes or do they use them somewhere else? This opens up a lot of questions for me

SYTYK is actually in the know as he has some info in the past regarding previous attractions, his membership on the website does preclude some of you newer guys  But JT I loved the popcorn comment :pound:

With that said, it does make a lot of sense if they are cleaning up the attraction in order to shut it down for a bigger project possibly, which I hope would be the case as a Jeep adventure would surely help bring more crownds to the JP island.

There really is not enough land to do an attrtaction with a jeep vehicle for it to be worth it. The land where that was going to go is taken up by Forbidden Journey's show building.

Some sort of simulator attraction could still technically happen.

I wasn't saying that he didn't know what he was talking about, I just didn't like the way he said it. Anyhow, :focus:
What are the odds of them going with the helicoptours idea? One thing I've noticed over the years is that Universal is much more prepared for inclement weather, and I've always thought that IOA could use another good indoor attraction

Though I imagine it wouldn't be technically feasible, I'd love to see the triceratops transplanted into the River Adventure somehow, perhaps in the Ultrasaur Lagoon where they're most desperately needed. Hell, even one along the main pathway of the island, with no queue or anything, would be a considerable improvement... I'm just curious as to what they plan to slide into that space. It really isn't all that huge and is kind of boxed in.

I could definitely see them getting simulators in there. Does anyone have an aerial view of the park for referance.

And yea, I'd love to see teh trikes added to RA. The Ultrasaur scene needs something desperately, and even on along a pathway would be cool.

I'm sorry if my posts were misunderstood. Part of my job is writing contracts so I tend not to speak casually. Hazards of the occupation. Universal is closing the attraction after this year for a tax write off. DH is correct in assuming they are investing a small amount of money (a large amount according to my bank account) to get it to a functioning state that the IRS will allow the write off. I understand the logic is not there...enjoy it while you can! Check out Paddox 2 becuase they usually bring in the baby trike to interact with Sara, the big Tric. The cost to maintain the three ladies is astronomical. What they really should do is stripe them down and let people see the complex robots underneath that were created by an aerospace company.

Hmm... but what about that piece of land behind Thunder Falls?

Thanks. After looking at that, it looks like they may be able to squeeze 3 or 4 simulators into the area, but I can't tell for sure.
