It's about time Universal got a proper parade. I can't say I agree with making it all kiddy - it'd be nice if there were a few additional floats (only 3 main ones I guess?). Spongebob and Despicable Me are solid choices, Hop is a little ehh (but will make for some cool character & float designs). I wish there was just a little more... I guess a Woody Woodpecker/Chilly Willy float would be nice, Shrek, Mummy, Classic Monsters, ET, and Simpsons. Maybe they'll add additional floats if the initial run is successful. I'm still looking forward to seeing this and I'm sure I'll enjoy the festivity and atmosphere it'll bring to the park.

They only mentioned Despicable Me, Spongebob, Hop, and Diego & Dora. That's 4 floats. A parade is definitely more than that, so I'm reserving any criticism for now. I do hope and believe that there's gonna be some more diversity of floats, including some for the "older" kids.

It's basically going to be Universal's version of Block Party Bash, which I believe only had 4 main floats as well.

But you can see in the art there are smaller vehicles involved as well.

Yup, which I'm guessing will be about a 15-minute experience total.

What are the chances HOP is only there for the Spring during Easter, then switched out for the summer months?

HOP is the only questionable part of the parade for me.

I think a Seuss float would have been a better choice.

I don't see it being a permanent part of the parade for long. It's a franchise with very little longevity and something that can easily be replaced once they are done trying to hype its DVD/Blu-Ray release.

As for the rest of the parade, it looks fairly impressive from the concept art and seems to be something that kids can enjoy. Hopefully, they can expand from here in the future and continue to enhance the parades to fit a wider age range eventually.

A parade like this is going to be constantly changing. I'm sure that more floats will be added and removed as time goes on.

But let's be serious. Would you watch Hollywood Dreams every time you're in the park? Doubtful. Same with this. If it's good the fans will catch it every once in a while. But the normal guests, especially families. Will eat this up

A parade just needs to be entertaining and high energy to be captivating. This can definitely be that.

You have to remember the target audience for something like this as well. Obviously none of us here care for Dora & Diego (but I have a 2-year-old niece who lives with me so I know just how popular with that set they are). But it should be hard for us to be disappointed that Universal's getting more entertainment for kids and their families, an audience that they should definitely cater to a bit more than they have in years past.

When I read:

Guests will sing and dance along with characters like the minions from Despicable Me, E.B. from the hit comedy, Hop, Nickelodeon’s Dora & Diego and SpongeBob SquarePants during the interactive experience.

It made me assume they were just listing just a few of the things we'll see.

If that's the case, too bad :(
But at least it's something new, and I welcome it happily

If it is just 4 floats so be it. I am just happy that we are getting something like this, and it is a HUGE step in the right direction.

From Orlando Sentinel:

Among Universal Orlando’s announcements Wednesday was news of its first-ever daily parade for Universal Studios. Here are nuggets about “Universal’s Superstar Parade,” which will debut sometime this spring and feature characters from “Hop,” “Despicable Me,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Dora the Explorer.”

+ The floats for are all-new and self-propelled. Translation: No trucks hauling them as in the Mardi Gras parade.

+ Worried about that sharp turn in the parade route? I always do. Never fear, says Jim Timon, senior vice president of entertainment. The floats “can rotate and spin on their own axis, which gives us an incredible degree of maneuverability,” he says.

+ The parade will mark the debut of several costumed characters, including Gru and the girls from “Despicable Me” and friends of SpongeBob.

+ The sound system at the park has been revamped. The new floats will have customized soundtracks (theme songs, character voices) that go with them as they go through the park.

+ The floats will be used as mobile backdrops for character meet-and-greets during the day.

+ The parade is equipped to go night or day. And the plan is for there to be days when the park will feature run both the “Superstar Parade” and its Mardi Gras parade.

+ In addition to characters, there will be dancers and more. Stilts, right? “You will absolutely see stilts in this parade, and a couple of new street-performance, ground-talent experiences that you haven’t seen before,” Timon says.

A little disappointed with the float selections but it's definitely a step in the right direction.

Universal posted audition dates for the parade. They're looking for roller skaters, drummers, dancers, stilit walkers and costumed performers.

That's longer than some Disney parades.

They showed the three smaller floats for Spongebob, Patrick, and Squidward, the large one for Despicable Me, and I'm assuming there will be at least 2 for Dora and Diego and at least one float for Hop. Definitely more than 4

Yea. There's a bunch of smaller vehicles along with the bigger stage floats.
