Can finally talk about my time during opening night after being busy these past couple days, but I'm inclined to disagree with early access being unnecessary, especially if you want to do everything and try food.
I overall had a great time and I think the event is well worth the price of admission, but there are definitely some things that might justify early access in my opinion (some of which double as things I hope they fix in the future), especially if you're going in a bit blind like I did.
Got to enter about 2 hours ahead of the event start thanks to my pass and I decided to get a quick fill of Mario Kart before seeing the opening act on the upper lot until it was time to get ahead of the waiting crowd. Then the lower lot stuff was essentially the first stop, and while D&D was smooth sailing, so was SNW until it was time for the special Yoshi line. As nice as it was to see a different color Yoshi, the line took a rather egregious amount of time (I think it was like 40 minutes?). Can't decide if that or D&D would be better to hit first if you wanna do both, especially when I don't know if lines would be better earlier or later in the night (though I had no idea they closed SNW at midnight)
Stopping for food can definitely use up your time, and I unfortunately didn't have a good experience with that when I decided to get Toadstool Cafe that night; not only was the app incorrect about reservations not being needed during FFN and had to make a reservation 30 minutes out (it was 9:30 by the time I got in), it took over 30 minutes before my food arrived, and all I ordered was the Yoshi smoothie since I had a big lunch earlier. I get if event crowds were influencing things but christ.
For that matter, I really hope it and the Alfredo are available in the daytime like the other menu items, I'll definitely plan around that when I go again if so.
It was only after that was when I was able to finally hit BTTF, and impressive and breathtaking as it was, I sadly couldn't see everything (especially the DeLorean photo op) due to being strapped for time (no pun intended), but I did see one of the lightning strikes. After that, I hit JJK with the intention to do the One Piece meet and greets after, but by then they capped the line for One Piece and that made me mentally kick myself for not doing that first and then JJK.
The last thing I was able to do was Star Trek, which left Hogsmeade and One Piece as the only big things I didn't get to do. Hogsmeade was already closed by the time we got out of Star Trek.
In short, if you're looking to do more than just the walk-throughs and main events, I'd imagine you're literally buying yourself more time with early access, daytime arrival can definitely help if you wanna try the food too, and after how my night went I don't blame the park for having (most of?) them available during regular park hours.
Aside from those hiccups, they definitely put a lot of work into this event and I really hope it thrives so that it returns next year. It's exciting to imagine what other IPs could get similar treatments.
I have confirmation that Jujitsu Kaisen is in Japanese with English subtitles.
I did get wind of this prior to seeing, and I'm personally not a fan of that choice now that I got to experience it. The subtitle placement (especially in the pre show) made it hard to keep up with what's happening on screen. Granted, I did sit in the back of one of the closer rows to try to get a more immersive vibe since there's no 3D glasses.
Anyways, I'm convinced that subbing the Japan 3/4D attractions probably just doesn't work, especially since it's live and can't be paused. They really ought to dub them and I can only hope all future ported USJ shows don't meet the same fate.
