oh pssh, its not like universals making a highly advanced Trackless dark-

Oh, wait? They are? Oh, ok. Well, I have some work cut out for me there.

That being said, it wouldn't be a surprise that they try to do that, but who knows.

Oddly enough, that's almost identical to my predictions. I call it Islands of Adventure... 2.

Given that, I think they're still looking at another approx. $20 million to lock up all the currently available land on the north side of Universal Blvd, not including some conservation only land that they would be wise to pick up to ensure they can develop as much of that Lockheed land as possible.

Yeah, I am hoping they are negotiating for the whole shebang surrounding that one resort. West Uni Blvd to South Uni Blvd to most of East on Destination.

Universal will go after all they can get. They don't seem to have a problem with being a bit aggressive these days.

And buying enough land to build a 3rd gate+hotels+dining/entertainment right next to The Orange County Convention Center is pretty aggressive.

So if they make the purchase, would the county fight approving whatever they want to do? Or do they have enough power to get the zoning and approvals to do pretty much whatever they want within reason?

I'd always guessed Fantastic Beasts would take over Lost Continent, but if Universal have more room to play with maybe a Forbidden Forrest and more potter will take over that area? I guess we have the next 15 years to speculate :)

Insane news!!! My jaw dropped when I heard it, so many possibilities so many friggin acres it's unbelievable. My bold predictions are Star Trek and Nintendo. Everything else can be whatever. Time for ridiculous speculation of old rides coming back.....

Early IP guesses:

Fantastic Beasts
Legend of Zelda (if not already at USF)
At least one Illumination IP
Star Trek
DC Land :look:

We're probably a decade away from this so it's way too soon to think of other IPs, but I'd love to see Uni try some original ideas.

if that American Maglev project ever gets off the ground I would love if they partnered with them for a link between the resorts.

Star Trek is hilariously overvalued in theme park circles IMO. Doesn't have the drawing power, and its fan base will be ancient by the time this opens

True, this is also why no way do jaws or BTTF come back.

Well if the new series does well there could be a new resurgence in Star Trek's popularity. There's also quite a bit to the world of Star Trek to build on as well as the potential to create an annual event like the Star Wars weekends and the Harry Potter celebration.

Disagree. Jaws and BTTF are free, Star Trek isn't

I get that, but more so the relevance. Just don't see them building a new Jaws ride in a new park. BTTF could work if it was made into a coaster though.

They built Kong as a standalone in IoA, I could see Jaws being part of it. Imagine Amity being the "main street" of the park with a new Jaws as its attraction. Could work.

Though I agree BTTF would make much more sense

EDIT: Actually, 1950s Hill Valley would be an awesome Main Street

In no way am I trying to stop the speculation but I did need to point this out that officially they do not have the land and doesn't necessarily mean theme park is coming.

Key word being officially.

Kong at least has two movies recently to help exposure to new audiences. Hill valley would be great with an 88 mph coaster.
