In no way am I trying to stop the speculation but I did need to point this out that officially they do not have the land and doesn't necessarily mean theme park is coming.

Key word being officially.

The first is true, though it sounds like it's basically a done deal. The second seems crazy to me. No way they're buying 450+ acres and not putting a park on it.

Is it just me in thinking that the Classic Monsters would work more for a theme park attraction now than BTTF or Jaws?

Reboot the Silver Screens hotel concept, tie it in with a Universal Classics theme park. Monsters, BttF, Jaws, etc.

I would love a Godzilla attraction but not sure how legendary/WB contract would work with universal. I know Kong is now switched over or something.

I think the Monsters would be awesome, but their movies have to turn out to not be crap, which I doubt.

Sounds awesome in concept, sounds like a flop in reality.

I'm not talking about the King Kongs and Godzillas, i'm talking about the classic Black and White Mummies, Frankensteins and Draculas. Those would be very fascinating to see.

I agree that the more recent Monster reboots have turned to piles of crap, but I do think that theres some potential with the new Monsters universe in the formings, and if those are a success, then they can make some real business in that alleyway.

I don't disagree, but that's a huge question mark. As of now, I'd still say BTTF or Jaws are more marketable

Sigh time to rain on everybody's parade yet again. Jaws probably has the biggest chance of coming back out of all the old IPs but I seriously wouldn't count on it. Manly because anything but the original ride would disappoint fans. If it came back as a screenz attraction or even worse, a scaled down version of the original ride, the world would explode. That brings up the argument of "just bring back the original ride exactly how it was" :lmao::lmao::lmao: , enough said.

BTTF has literally no chance of coming back, for the most obvious of reasons and more. And I'm sorry but this launch coaster idea that everybody claims is brilliant and makes total sense, really isn't and really doesn't.

I get this is all blue sky and I get you all love these old IPs and have fond memories of them but look at reality here. Universal has changed, why make attractions out of dead IPs that have no new movies coming out anytime soon? Theme parks now have to have synergy, specific merch, food, drink ect, these IPs have nothing like that. They are classics sure but with the possibilities of Nintendo, new illumination films and whatever gigantic property that comes next, I think the last thing the GP will care about is a new jaws attraction. It's something I personally don't think but it's the way the world (and the theme park industry) is

Kong kind of proves that wrong tho. If Kong is a big hit next year, there's no reason to think Jaws or BTTF couldnt do the same

That is very true, however I think kong coming here was more on the fact it did so well at hollywood. That and kong has the new skull island franchise to go back on. I also think kong is more worthy than both IPs of coming back since it not only saved universal's theme park industry but universal's film history as a whole

The ride is opening before Skull Island and has all but a tangential connection to the new film.

And you do know the first, and only, King Kong movie Universal has ever released was the 2005 one, right?

I agree with this.

I watched the stream of the Skyplex meeting from beginning to end. One of the proponents of Skyplex simply said he suspects that Universal has the contract on this land. Then some website picked that up, and then it caught on fire. There was absolutely no confirmation. The guy announced his assumption to help back his pro-Skyplex argument.

That's all this community has ever wanted. A barebones launch coaster that hits 88mph with the name BTTF slapped on it. (Also, this would be okay for Fast & the Furious too..)

It was stated in the Orlando Sentinel that two of the board members said they were told by Universal that they had a contract to purchase the land. That's pretty solid information. However, yes nothing is official yet. A contract to purchase the land doesn't mean necessarily the deal will go through. For all we know Universal may abandon the deal based on the Skyplex approval. I don't think that will be the case but obviously any number of things could happen here.

I haven't been to Cabana Bay in a while, but didn't its bus stop open with three queues?

Just feels like UNI has been planning something. I imagine Volcano Bay would be closer to most than the bus stop....so maybe the WnW plot and now the Convention Center area as possible future bus destinations (or will CBBR guest not be able to walk to VB)?

Anyway, I just feel like Comcast is doing a good job all around at diversifying from just being a cable company/dumb pipe provider while the core business is still strong.

Oh yeah my bad lol, still it definitely has it's place in film history though and should be represented somewhat in the parks

Yeah, that and some kind of fire effect on the rails after the launch.
