Might be a better strategy to park at the main hub and then take a bus from there to Epic Universe since they've got dedicated bus lanes.

In my case I will be at Terra Luna to try to dodge the crowd as much as I can.

yes, staying at any of the three hotels in walking distance is definitely the best strategy if you're able.

Heck, there's also plenty of hotels within walking distance near the Convention Center and John Young. If you're planning on going early it shouldn't be too humid out while you're walking.

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling Opening Day might be spectacular crowd-wise? Not saying it'll be empty, but pleasant enough to prevent over-crowding concerns from domination news headlines.

I can be totally wrong, but unlike previous opening days, there isn't an influx of APs & locals to drive crowds at the start.

Honestly, the hope is it's much more Rise of the Resistance and much less Hagrids. I certainly don't love virtual queues, especially when they are used as a crutch, but I like them significantly better than waiting 12 hours in a line for a ride. This is a US park in a modern age, and I will be very interested to see how they handle operations and queuing, especially when there's a higher chance of ride downtime.

I agree. I’m not a huge fan of virtual queues, however with this park opening, there’s going to be so much to see and do, I’d be perfectly happy with virtual queues here.

And I sat in the Hagrid’s line for 4 hours the weekend it opened. While it was cool to see the new queue, I think I would’ve rather walk around and see more. Especially since it was summer and it was hot.

I think we have an opportunity to see a park with at least three, if not four, rope drop-ables*.

*Yep I just coined that!

MoM because, well HP; FMU, because of the ride system and the animatronics, DK because those of us theme park sickos who post to theme park boards know the capacity of this thing, and MK because holy poop Mario Kart (yes I know of the ride complaints but it is MK!)!

Early hours at SNW already divides two. It will be interesting to see a park with four rope-droppers.

Has that ever happened before? Most I can think of is IOA w/ Hagrids, Veloci, and FJ (even though that is old to most of us, new peeps make a bee-line).

Do we know yet if they are planning on updating the metal detectors at security to be more like Disney & SeaWorld vs what they currently use?

I hope they are considering this. The amount of additional guests arriving through here will increase in the next few months.

It would be a horrible guest experience to make a guest arriving from Helios/Stella/Luna to queue up back into the parking garages when security is backed up in the early mornings or during HHN.

The stuff with the simplified logo like in picture 3 look really really clean and good. But it also makes it so obvious how 2009 the actual logo is, lol.

Will all the resorts have an Epic bus? I’m staying at Dockside. So trying to figure out my best move.

While I get everyone wants the faster screening, I’d rather have the more thorough screening Universal does. So much stuff gets through at Disney…

Sorry for the double post, but separate topic—

The local stores seem to be beefing up their Nintendo merchandise. The Walmart on John Young and Sandlake rolled out a lot of Nintendo stuff at the front of the store near the theme park souvenir area:

That says a lot about local enthusiasm for Epic/Nintendo.
