I really want a Spongebob land (or even just a dark ride), but I don't think committing a war crime is the best way to get one.

Hmmm, I wonder if Comcast has noticed all the delayed projects and gutting of the core product going on down the road? Seems ripe for exploitation to me.

More likely they'll staff back up with WDI labor, just like the mid 90s.

That would be incredible with the extra Comcast coin flowing in

But there isn't extra flowing in and they very much are running on a skeleton crew. I don't expect discussions to begin on future projects and hirings till recovery begins and internal business projections give a path to what 2023 looked like in 2019.

Of course, that's assumed...In the future however, it could be really exciting

I wonder what the equivalent story of ex WDI employees bringing Beastly Kingdom to IOA in the form of the Dueling Dragons will be for EU.

I'm hearing that between the cuts, the success of DietHHN, and encouraging advanced reservations, they are "exceeding expectations". Reopening Portofino in Dec. also points to that being the case. All of that is causing quite the positive buzz in the Executive Suites over on Turkey Lake Rd.

I think we will see an aggressive push on a major project early in 2021. But that's my opinion.

Yep, the company's constant financial troubles before the Universal purchase usually lead them to pimping themselves out to whoever would throw cash their way.

After the stuff that's already almost finished/close enough to finish (VC, Rat, GotG, Tron, IB, IG), I do not expect any permanent additions to the area until about 2030. This is because of how long I expect the pandemic to last, of course.

In other words, "don't give me hope." The last time Universal scooped up a band of disgruntled Imagineers they created perhaps the most underrated themed land ever.

If not EU then hopefully an addition to USF before EU.

I think a lot of this comes down to what Comcast’s Q3/Q4 earnings look like.

One of the big benefits (in theory) of a conglomerate model like Comcast’s is that strong businesses can cover for weaker businesses in times of need.

The parks are in a time of need right now. If Comcast’s Q3/Q4 results show a rebound (similar to what some other businesses are showing) in non-parks areas and if there’s enough demand in the parks to foreshadow future parks growth, I could see a project happening.

I don’t know too much about telecommunications businesses, but building infrastructure is incredibly capital heavy. Comcast doesn’t have the struggles Disney currently does, but it does have to think about cash flow. The parks don’t push the bottom line at Comcast nearly as much as they do over at Disney.

Well they should plus ET or BUST it out for something else. It is showing its age. Even legends must die. . .

They had the same positive buzz when they were pushing an early June opening because it was their chance to win the summer in Orlando. The only thing they won was a whip crack from Comcast.

Same here... there is no line on a pro forma for “what’s going on down the road” - it either works or it doesn’t. It’s currently impossible to forecast international travel and nobody knows what’s going to happen with corporate tax breaks over the next few years. Both of those could either kill the project for years or be fine in 12 months. They just need to be focused on the quality of their own projections, like what happens when you have to raise AP prices closer to a Disney pass than a SeaWorld pass.

It's a mix of optimism and also understanding how fluid the situation is. I'd be very surprised if any major decisions were made that early.

In your opinion, what do you think the major project could be??? I apologize if this has been stated previously. I’m a little new to the game of theme park rumors and discussion

I know it's not going to happen, but I'd kill for a Megamind attraction in a general DreamWorks replacement land.

We had a Tooth Fairy house, we had a scene of the Easter Bunny back in 2011, now we need a Queen of England house! :)
