It's a speculation/discussion thread - just want to speculate on the designs/ideas we have so far. It's perfectly fine to discuss our opinions on what we could expect the ride experience to be like.

I would love to be wrong and DK become my favorite coaster. I want to make sure my expectations our appropriate before overhyping it.

That was my original statement as well, station design doesn't matter if blocks take longer than the dispatch interval and vice versa. Would love for Universal to surprise me, but it is not wrong to speculate on a potential capacity constraint.

Universal is more than capable of dispatching a 4-passenger cart in 10 seconds, would love to see that in action as we haven't seen something like that yet.

I get that, but it's a little too early to judge execution when we barely know anything about the ride. We don't know the height, the speed, some of the elements vary between rumors, we don't know what the inside portions will look like, how the elements will feel in terms of airtime and laterals, the maintenance, what kinda weather this ride can run in, etc. We can judge the elements we know any day of the week but not the execution.

they are but that would make the block sections 5 secs long, and as I outlined previously thats unlikely to be the case

which is why I am worried about capacity for this attraction being less than the typical 1,440.

I know we don't focus on it much but with the speculation about queue times for Donkey Kong I hope Universal does something unique for the indoor queue portion before the ride. Which should be easy considering the IP of Donkey Kong. Bunch of interactive queue elements, find the KONG letters, etc.

They look like neat interiors, but nothing that screams UNIVERSAL MONSTERS to me.

The tree in the center of the maybe steakhouse looks to have these really cool carvings of all the monsters, seems like it could be an awesome tribute. I also really enjoy the weapons lying around.

Yeah, I mean, it's a cool interior design for a restaurant. It's just kind of meta, and that's not really an approach I love when it comes to a full Monsters land.

I get they feel they have to justify being able to sell Monster merch, and so on.

I guess I’m confused by this response. The tree has carved monsters - as though it’s a legend that has been passed on. The theming is a cross between Gothic and Medieval. It’s dark and atmospheric. @belloq87 if you were designing it, what would yours look like?

My pitch for a Monsters restaurant has always been, essentially, Biergarten from Epcot. Which is more boring than what they seem to be going with! But it would be more reflective of the various Bavarian towns seen in the original movies.

I think that's basically my sticking point: I'd kind of have liked the land to be a bit more directly inspired by the locations in the movies, not a new "take" where the town is a tourist trap embracing the Monsters.

But that's me. If I were designing the land purely for myself as a fan, it would probably look very different, and would probably only please the really hardcore.

I think there was a leak of an old concept for the land and it had endless trees, this coincides well with that lol

From a thematic perspective I can dig what they're going with but German food is so underrepresented just about everywhere that I too wish it were a German restaurant. Give me a German restaurant here and a French restaurant in Wizarding World and we're all set!

Unpopular opinion, the issue with food is Americans by far are picky eaters. There are a lot of people who aren't a fan of german food outside of bratwursts, beer, and pretzels. Unless they are trying to make the table service fine dining within the park....I would argue it's best to just go board rather than specific with central european.

I grew up in a part of the country with lots of good German restaurants (or supper clubs with German influence), and I think it shouldn't be difficult to craft a menu with some German specialties alongside more traditional steakhouse fare that isn't off-putting to a picky eater. It's not like Germans never use cuts of beef and pork chops!

Definitely some Enchanted Oak references

The Merlin Wood area of LC is certainly a great reference for a "Monsters Land" IMO

Add in the atmosphere of the original Dragon's queue and you have yourself a great environment
