Venom 2 is moving forward, as Andy Serkis is joining on as the director for the sequel to the 2018 film.

'Venom 2': Andy Serkis to Direct (Exclusive) | Hollywood Reporter

Kelly Marcel will return to pen the script, as Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock.

I am not sure how to take this news. I didn't see the two films that he directed. The first movie was alright but left something to be desired. Maybe it was just tough as an origin story.

Surprisingly, Venom has been pushed to next June (2021). I honestly expected them to keep their October release.

There are rumors that Venom 2 contains spoilers for Morbius. If that's the case, I wonder why Sony was ever clinging to their October release to begin with.

Morbius is coming out in March before Venom 2. How would Venom have spoilers for Morbius?

Because Morbius was originally supposed to come out this July.

I can’t imagine it would be anything too substantial or else they would have put swapped Venom 2 and Morbius next year.

FFH was an MCU movie though. I know Venom, Morbius, and I guess technically the MCU Spidey movies too (since Keaton's Vulture is back in Moribus) are a part of Sony's Spider-Verse, but this seems like a slower build out to me. More similar to Phase 1 of the MCU leading up to the Avengers.

The difference is that instead of building up to an Avengers movie, they're very likely building up a Sinister Six team to do a "Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six" movie. If they do it right, that could be a kickass freakin movie.

I like the name, and I guess them moving it to a high summer release shows they are confident that they have a winner on their hands?

I think it’s a dumb, try hard name.

I’m still excited for Carnage though.

The name itself excites me because I know what it's referencing, and I don't think Carnage has ever actually been depicted in a live action movie yet outside of the mid-credits scene at the end of Venom.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Venom as a movie, but Tom Hardy was great in the role, Woody Harrelson as Carnage has the potential to be amazing, Jered Leto as Morbius and Michael Keaton as Vulture? Top that off with Tom Holland as Spider-Man and holy crap. This Spider-Verse may end up sucking, but i'll be damned if they didn't cast this thing to perfection.

Add Jason Mamoa as Kraven (which I know won’t happen) and Alison Pill as Doc Ock and we’re golden.

While the comedy is a tiny bit hit or miss so-far (but I'm willing to give benefit of the doubt), I really loved Cassidy's scenes and the design of Carnage. Carnage's design feels like a straight up horror movie design; with the way it's body contorts and has spikes that seemingly move about. It makes me wonder if the MPAA might make the film Rated R, because of the design's grotesque nature (even more than Venom's. That says a lot).

Yeah, I also really enjoy Carnage’s design in the trailer. I still haven’t seen the first movie, so I can’t comment on how the acting seemed to compare.

Looks better than the first film

No clue if I'll see it....looks like dumb fun which cool to those who want it but I like the MCU which now normally add some sort of interesting political topic to link it to real world events.

The design is good for sure on Carinage and the actor should do fine...I just wish Sony would have let the MCU people help and this be canon
