Well, the major problem with 1990 though, was that hardly anything worked when they opened it. I don't see that situation with VB. Water slides are child's play compared to new tech attractions.

As long as they don't have a drought, virtually nothing can go wrong and I don't see that happening here.

I just drove by, there was lots of activity around the cabanas near I4, and they were planting trees along the tram route.

Sorry, no pics. It was 4:10am (mostly dark) and I was driving.

I think this has our first good look at the pathway from Cabana Bay over to the Volcano Bay park entrance, if you look directly to the right of the Cabana Bay lazy river:

It looks like they're extending the walkway to the new Cabana Bay Tower. It still doesn't appear to head toward VB. I'd love for there to be something that connects the resort directly, I just don't know if they will do that. A couple things to note here: The northern edge of the park where the red trailer and three 3 blue containers are is actually elevated about 6 to 8 feet (can be seen from other pictures). Also, the entrance is RIGHT next to the Cabana Bay tower so they'll likely have a sidewalk that heads toward the existing main entrance to VB. Rather than create a new entrance for CB.

There is about a 25' drop just past the red trailer.

No excuse. You should be carrying a commercial grade spotlight for situations like this.

I'm thinking that pathway will continue to the left around the back of the lazy river to provide a walking route between the two new towers. Going to the right, I think it will wind between the new tower and existing building and end at a carded gate near the VB entrance. This would separate the resort from the waterpark to prevent VB visitors from strolling over to CBBR.

Ya- I was going to just do a Thursday-Sunday, but then remembered that Disney has their Animal Kingdom DVC event in September- so I went ahead and booked a DVC room for the 13th and will be going there for free to see Pandora. Can't beat that. :D

Good move. And with the 60 day FP window, you'll be able to get a FP for the Pandora attractions. Those lines are going to be too long to wait in stand by.

If you look at early construction pics, there is a large serpentine wall between Cabana and the Park. There were no breaks in the wall. Unless we see them start building a ramp into the hotel, there will be no entrance.

Agreed. All there will be is access to the main VB entrance from CBBR.

I don't know if this helps anyone or not- or where to even post it- but you can redeem Chase points for Universal tickets that include Volcano Bay. It's dirt cheap too- 22,969 points for a 4 day, 3 park to park pass. Thats the equivalent of $229. My family of 4 is going to cost 90,370 points (or $903)- which I'll turn around and upgrade these to a power pass for essentially no cost at all.

I have the Chase Disney card. It saved me a ton of money on my last WDW trip in 2015 (Oct.). $750 in reward points saved me a lot of meal money......Love those cards.

I travel quite a bit for work or book others in our office for travel (so I get the points)- so I use the chase sapphire reserve (I would do the sapphire preferred vs the Disney one easily) so I get 3x dining and travel points plus 100k bonus at sign up. Its a bargain. It's $450 annual fee but you get $300 back for a travel credit, airport lounge access, etc- Heck- you could use the 100k points just for $1k cash back- but using it for "travel" like Universal tickets count as- its a 1.3x spending rate. I love it.
