I don't see how DLP would do a Value resort. Some of them already don't even have air conditioning as it is.

I'm surprised they haven't converted part of one of the Paris resorts to DVC to at least test the waters there. Seems like it would be an easy way to generate more revenue.

If there's any truth to that, don't expect any cuts to end any time in the next decade.

While I'm not a huge leemac fan. He is connected. So taking leemac's nugget of info combined with the plethora of "crazy cuts", and now sacrificial offerings to the Gods of Wall Street, I am coming to the conclusion that Iger's House of Cards is facing gale force winds of change.

This combined with the domestic parks being weak, Paris struggling, and HKDL seeing attendance falls is all bad news.

Oh I bet for sure they will show ground breaking records again. Just to look awesome!! Sometimes I wonder if the over budget was just an act to have reasons to blame their real intentions. I mean how can you budget so awfully after having built.... "wow!! how many parks now?" and not just a 100 millions but A BILLION!?, at least!... That's at least half of a budget to build a brand new park (EPCOT CENTER was 1.4 billions to build). What happened? did they just budget for Main Street USA? It's just so weird how the "Experts" had it so wrong, and in China!!! which their building safety regulations are not even half of what the U.S. demands. Weird!

Mainland China is a whole other beast when it comes to business. There are always...prices to be paid, let's just say.

So you are saying that investing on that country in the 1st place was just a bad business idea. I agree, they already have DLH... whether it used to be part of the UK or not, it don't matter, it's China now!... that country is covered.

Nah, Hong Kong is a completely different market than the mainland.

I think they waited too long to capitalize on the mainland.

Yes, a corrupt government is always difficult to deal with. And, even when the numbers start coming out on the park in the future, you can't really believe them since they manipulate financials to reflect their official versions. Just like they do with their movie box office numbers. I just hope Universal learns some lessons from this debacle, and doesn't get caught up in a similar situation with Beijing. And, to be noted, is that the present ruling circle is becoming less open market oriented (if that really ever existed) and even more totalitarian & centrist in their governing doctrine.

I think Disney just needs to stop building new parks and fix their current mess. Why start all these other parks that seem like a failure from the beginning and not fix your current issues?

Wasn't that one of the many problems at Shanghi though? I may be remembering this wrong, but I could have sworn I read that there were problems with the Chinese contractors cutting corners on the build at DLS because of the more lax building regulations and Disney, not happy with it, was making them re-do areas to meet the more strict U.S. standard.

Lax regulations & building codes. That's why when earthquakes hit an area all of their buildings collapse.

Hmm! well if that's true, then it sounds like China made a jerk move on them. Does China even want them there? I know they were using that Oriental Construction Company which means CM don't get free entrance because it's not technically 100% Disney, just like DLT and SEA. IDK call me a rebel, but sometime you are better off swallowing your pride, and packing your things up and go!! At least it will stop the money drain.
