Disney pulled a fast one and got the TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions) implemented when it had/has no right or reason to have them. The SOLE purpose of them getting TFRs in place was to cut down on all the aerial advertising that was going on over their parks. Disney argued it was for the "safety and security of their guests," but anyone with half a brain can deduce that a terrorist isn't going to honor a TFR and that they could violate the TFR and cause havoc in the parks within seconds...even in a small airplane. Even more ironic? It was my former Senator, the late Ted Stevens of Alaska who was instrumental in sneaking the Disney TFR's through! Regardless, it's a small and unimportant piece of Restricted airspace and it really isn't enforced, according to my friend at Orlando Approach Control. They enforce Kennedy Space Center, though...don't violate that one.

Yes, there are waivers in place to fly in the Disney TFR, however, they are exactly the same as those TFRs put in place for major sporting events/stadiums. Essentially, military, police and rescue aircraft can operate in the TFR at any time, and other aircraft can as well, PROVIDED they're providing broadcast services (news helicopters/blimps), or ferrying team personnel, family members, or equipment to/from the event. Otherwise, you're not supposed to fly in the Disney TFR "under penalty of law" (that's not enforced). I last went to Disney World 2 years ago and there was an aircraft flying a banner over EPCOT and another aircraft skywriting "Jesus Saves". Obviously, these 2 pilots were putting their pilots licenses at risk...but there doesn't seem to be much risk about it. Allegedly, Disney calls Orlando Approach fairly regularly to complain about "TFR Violators," but Orlando does nothing to enforce it.

Here's a fun little article from a decade ago that I found that was originally published in the Orlando Sentinel: http://disneytfr.wordpress.com/how-these-tfrs-got-started/ It's pretty factual and (I thought) pretty interesting.

Anyway, back to topic...

Thought I should share. From http://uoteam.com/:

In regards to the upcoming Career Showcase in SS33, "..Information will also be available about the internal transfer opportunities and the process of becoming part of the opening team for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Diagon Alley™."

Exciting woo!!!

Anyone been a TM during/before a ride opening? I'm wondering how much earlier TMs ride a new attraction before it soft opens to the public. That would be a tremendous perk.

Not that early, only maybe a day or two before soft openings, sometimes the same day. The bigger perk is getting to apply to be a part of the opening team.

Thanks for the pics! That is actually called a "scratch coat" onto which the actual theming will be applied. See the trowel lines in your pic below. Those are created on purpose to create more "grab".

BTW, if anyone could get a picture of them actually applying the "scratch coat" to the black weather shield on other buildings, I would appreciate it.

We should start a poll to see who would be willing to chip in and how much. The options could be

Not at this Time
$5
$10
$20
$30
More than $30

This would give us a good idea as to whether we could make our goal to send two people up in the helicopter with cameras. On a side note, doors off being in a helicopter is an amazing experience. Never understood why people want the doors on, I mean you get such a better view with them off and if the helicopter crashes you are in trouble with or without the doors

Orlando United is taking donations for a helicopter charter at this time. I already have something in the works and if any of you would like to help offset the cost that would be great.

Please make your donations here --> Orlando United Helicopter Charter Donation Fund

You may donate any amount you see fit and also please leave a note with your screen name.

Thank you, The Orlando United Staff.

Please don't take this the wrong way but . . . I don't believe you have been around long enough to see what we are capable of.

Just wait and see.
