Thanks! Yeah, Amusement Buzz posted a pic that showed some ducks(?) on top of one of the front facade buildings, so maybe someone got confused

Just received the itinerary for the Diagon Alley press event at Universal Orlando next month. Some "Harry Potter" film stars will be in attendance, but it doesn't say who. No grand opening moment or date noted as part of the event.

The 4-day schedule really only has 1.5 days of Potter, including a "media day" in the area and a nighttime red carpet event.

The rest of the event is a Universal Orlando overview and look to the future, plus the official full grand opening of the Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

We might get the Kong announcement sooner...

Hopefully this means that the grand opening will still happen around this time. I highly doubt they are going to include an event that mentions the Grand Opening in the itinerary when Universal hasn't announced it yet for the very reason that the itinerary might be leaked online (which it now has). With the amount of press that got invited and now confirmation that celebs will be at the event, I can't see them holding back the opening. They didn't invite a bunch of press and movie stars for a "preview" event last time did they? The only time this many people gathered at the parks was because of the grand opening, right?

We might get the Kong announcement sooner...

Anything is possible, but I think it's too soon. Potter and the latest additions to the resort are hype enough. Why not save the Kong announcement for when Potter's buzz has died down a bit, and then BAM! Generate more buzz for the resort with the Kong news. That's how I'd handle it, if I were Uni.


Amusement Buzz posted his latest update from today, and here's that picture with what appears to be some sort of birds on top of the KC facade, but the dragon structure is still bare:

Apparently only four sphinx benches for now, no camel ones (yet?).

Pretty sure the media event will be ALL about Potter, and the new value friendly resort to help encourage more travel to the park. Too soon to talk about Kong. If you remember both Transformers and Potter were partially built before an announcement came. Universal like to take their time with these announcements..unlike another theme park down the street.

^ I swear that one of those bird things looks like a sand hill crane. But I have never heard of a crane landing on flat roof. Perhaps it's just a tool bag.

You might have a point there now I look closer I was sure they were birds! Looked like herons or cranes or something (excuse my lack of local bird life knowledge).

They've started selling some new Diagon stuff in the main store of IOA. They have a bunch of Death Eater merch (costumes, notebooks, etc), Hogwarts Express stuff (hats, clothing, luggage stuff, etc) and some new Weasley Products like the Bombtastic Bombs.

^ Yes. It also makes noise. And has a nice sticker on it that warns you that you can't take it on a plane.

I never saw the bomb anywhere but the Zonkos window display before. Strange, if it was sold I must have really missed it.
