I've heard the TM preview could be going down sometime this week. Everything but Grongotts ride experience will be live.

Ya know it's funny, ever since they released video footage from the attraction I was always almost sure the Bill Wesley character in the dragon scene did not look like the original actor... Makes me wonder if he even shows up in his office in the queue, which could be why we've only seen the goblin character in the behind the scenes footage of the office.

Don't know why there isn't a thread somewhere for the Hogwarts Express (minor spoiler alert):

One of my good friends talked to someone who has a bit of info on the HE ride. He said they achieve a 3D effect by using 3 layers of "projections". He also mentioned the use of LED (I guess LED screens somewhere?). This is all describing the outer windows which are very deep. They are projected onto layered scrims from the front to achieve the 3D look. They could not project from the back because it would give them an "artificial concave" look.

He has returned, he has been in at least one of the interviews and I am positive that is the original actor in the ride footage

Let's remember, I think the only one who has confirmed to NOT be there is Daniel Radcliffe as Harry. Emma Watson I think is also up in the air, but Rupert Grint's presence in an interview suggests he may have filmed something.

Over a year ago, when Whylightbulb mentioned on the magical forum that the effect would be achieved using different 'layers', I guessed that it would be an effect similar to this (except much more advanced, of course). The effect below is simply a pepper's ghost effect with depth achieved by using different layers of lucite. From your description, it sounds like they are using 4K projectors that will project at varying levels onto the scrims.

Is anyone riding Hogwarts Express during the mock service going on right now? I tried to check Twitter but no comments of the sort.

Maybe not everyone, but definitely some people. Although my understanding is that if you have ridden it, you can NOT post about it on any social media under any circumstances.

From what I have heard, its an amazing ride for Harry Potter fans but not much more than a train ride with a show for everyone else.

Mock Service does not begin until 5 tonight. 2 days working and one as a guest for all participating. If they've participated in mock as guest, they've rode the train both ways and walked through the Gringotts bank line. Strict no detail policy, but pretty much what OI posted anoutnthenentire experience is spot on.

The way it's been talked about, people who don't care about Potter can use it as a lesser monorail... I imagine the fact it has a show will just make it less boring for those who aren't huge on Potter...

I would imagine that most people that want to wait in line to ride this WILL have interest in Potter. Otherwise, why wait to travel park to park when you can just walk in the first place?

People that don't care about Potter aren't going to wait 1 hour plus to ride this for transportation purposes only.

Plenty of team members have ridden HE but because they value their jobs they haven't posted anything about it on social media. They are very closely monitoring all the info getting out and where it's coming from.

I don't think it's an insult to call HE a "train ride with a show". While I think the overall experience will be amazing (the stations, the platform, the enormous scale of everything, the cabin itself), I don't consider it to be a "ride" on the same level as FJ or Gringott's. As a huge HP fan, I still think of it as the mode of transportation that links the 2 lands into a single experience. Most likely when I go on it, it will be at a time when I am planning to go to the other park anyways. But what an incredible way to get there! Kind of like how non-Potter fans wouldn't wait in a long line for Ollivander's, it might just not be as special to them...

Interesting. Usually we got some reactions on there. Didn't think there was anything wrong with them saying it's uh-ma-zing.

And as for it being just a train ride for non-Potter fans, good. I hope that keeps more people out of the line.

While the ride is not a thrill level of FJ/Gringotts, the level of detail in the HE experience is possibly unrivaled in Orlando

So then I'm not sure why people would say it's just a train ride. It's kinda like saying Pirates is just a boat ride with a show.
