Do you think it will take about the same amount of space or will there be some extra space to do something else in addition with it?

Could we be seeing this possibly as a 2017 project, instead of a 2018 project?

I would guess if they are keeping the castle it would be done in 2017.

Personally, I think they could still get rid of the castle and be fine for a 2017 opening. It just depends on how fast they want to go.

These rumours had better be false. I'm going to IOA on September 22nd.

As long as I can get one last ride, I'll be perfectly happy.

If I was in charge and to throw some ideas idea there again (Hopefully better than this morning @Mad Dog )

I'd keep the current station building for DC but divert the queue towards Hogwarts. I'd put a launched wing coaster like @testtrack321 suggested and have it blast straight out the station. The pros being that it adds some thrills without the intensity of an inverted coaster and without the need of a lift hill, it can keep the height down. The main con being that it's another coaster with a launch in IOA. I'd theme it around a game of quidditch which could lead to some interesting theming and near misses. I'd also keep the coaster to within this area:

The red line being the new queue and a little over 3 acres should be plenty to do something incredible.

For the remaining area:

You have something similar in size to Kong. They could start work on this at the same time or save this for a phase 4. The obvious choice would be to create a Forbidden Forest dark ride. I don't really know enough about HP to really comment on a story or event for this attraction.

Considering Joe (TestTrack), Disneyhead being very reliable sources..your luck may not be there for the rumor to be false.

Most of the rumors have circulated to something like what happened with Hulk or a brand new coaster, built from the ground up.

Considering that we are a month out from Labor Day; you may not be getting the chance to have one final ride on DC (if we're looking at it closing around the same time as last year with Disaster and Hulk closed on Labor Day).

So will this be a lone dragon then? Although I feel like the real question is... what do they want to do with the extra space?

If they're doing a Quiddich field, I would hope it's trackless Kuka Arms spinning and swerving around each other...

Although that won't happen. The Forbidden Forest really only has Bane (the Centaur), Aragog, and Grawp. Maybe the Thestrals could be there and a dragon. It would be perfect for a Kong style ride... But it's another Kong style ride.

That's the "problem" with the Hogsmeade area. Nothing of consequence happens there, really. The Forbidden Forest has moments but nothing huge. And absolutely NOTHING happens in the Shrieking Shack aside from Pettigrew and a meeting for Dumbledor's Army.

The only good options (story/experience) for that area are Quiddich, Chamber of Secrets (which is still a slight stretch), or...

The Battle of Hogwarts. And it would allow the ride entrance to be in Hogsmeade without changing canon. Harry, Hermione, and Ron meet with Aberforth in Hogsmeade and go through the painting to reach Hogwarts. This allows the entrance to go through Hogsmeade directly, get a magical queue experience to get back into Hogwarts for the load, and then experience the most important element of the entire series.

There's that. Or.. an air-conditioned theater showing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It's hot, y'all.

It's safe to say the new attraction, if a coaster (very likely) will not duel. However I can't imagine UC just installing another B&M invert with a new layout. That'd be screaming "hey we turned two of the same ride into one!"

So this will be something new. Exciting stuff. I'm just shocked that Universal is this quick to turn the key. The question I'm dying to know is how quickly the replacement will come. If it's just an outdoor coaster, that's something that could be banged out by late summer 2017. (the same Hulk turnaround time)

If that's indeed the mark Uni is aiming for, then bravo. Way to still stick to the amount of additions they intially promised for next year. (and will make sure everybody will want that "Explorer" pass with VB coming online)

I want dueling motorbike coasters, one green, one maroon. Themed like broomsticks. With a few of these thrown in for good measure.

Wouldn't that be a capacity nightmare given it will be a HP ride?

If they could run 6 trains at a time, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'm hoping for something that is much better themed and doesn't intrude on Hogsmeade.

Mostly, the Forbidden Forest

The ghost of Newt Scamander showing us the creatures of the Forest tying into Fantastic Beasts. Think of the Ghost Host in HM. A musion effect of his actual ghost would be in the queue.

Issue with quidditch is there's no way to make it interactive. At that point there's no reason to build it.

I think it'll be a terrain hugging launched Wingrider themed to the centaurs
