I'm home and I poured myself a drink.

farfanoogin.

I'm emotionally wiped. Moderating the forum and thread since March has taken a real toll on myself and others. This is the drop that just hits so hard, I don't know what to say. I'm going to miss a lot of things and a lot of people. I don't know really what to do right now and still haven't canceled my flight or hotel room. I'm just so so so spent and exhausted.

I think we all need to take a break after this.

I'll cheers to that. I've been drinking (responsibly) since noon  As much as I didn't really feel safe about the whole event moving forward, it was still the last and only thing I had left to look forward to for the year after having so many big moments canceled and now it's down the drain too. It's rough. Definitely think getting away from the event for a few months is much needed. Hoping this doesn't take too much of a toll on the staffing within the parks, but it's going to be rough it seems.

And massive thanks to the staff as always. We all owe you all drinks (or maybe pizza fries) come next year's event lol.

Yeah I had weddings, fun trips, and more all planned and now cancelled. Just... sucks. It all sucks.

Me rn

Just to be 100% clear - I do not expect to see any indication of "Halloween Horror Nights 2021" on either coast until it's clear the pandemic situation has measurably improved, either by a breakthrough treatment, vaccine, or drastically lowered and controlled case numbers.

Expecting anything else is foolhardy.

I think Brian’s early prediction of March is probably smart. Gets past the election, Christmas, and hopefully gets the cases lowered. So basically it will be like any other HHN year just with a year long gap.

Hang in there brother. Thanks to yourself and everyone else who mods and contributes to the threads. This disease has really wrecked so much of what we all love and cherish in a short period of time. Its been such a rough year and I think we were all hoping this would someone be possible - it does really hit hard no matter how inevitable it was.

This thread was a source of some sanity (and at times insanity) through some very difficult months. So again, thanks. Dark times no doubt, but optimism and promise is on the horizon with the hundreds of vaccine trials in various stages.

See you in the fog, whenever that might be.

Well poopie. It's heartbreaking, but realistically did anyone else really think that the event was actually going to happen? I'm glad they had the sense and "guts" to call it off. Don't think the county or state would've let it happen. But maybe next year.

Obviously the safety issue was paramount. But I bet it was a financial decision too. They probably calculated that without income from booze and the very limited amount of people who could be accommodated nightly, the event just didn’t make sense. Certainly not enough to cover blowback that they would have gotten for holding the event. They made the decision they felt they had to make but still a major disappointment for fans and I’m sure many scareactors.

I imagine the loss of an IP as was hinted at along with the potential money that would’ve been lost from that also “helped” the call.
